Yesterday's Flat Blue Condo

Not much to see here today. So far we have a flat yellow kitty. Not sure if we're flipping the schedule again to mild days and hot nights (hee hee - like that analogy? I'll be here all week!). Time will tell. No evening plans the rest of the week, so hit me with your best shot, Cinco! Just be good on Thursday afternoon, as I have a much needed hair appointment!

Sasha finished off that jar of baby food last night before bed. This morning when I went to take her some breakfast, I found she had just thrown up. :sad: This was about 10 hours after her Ondansetron. I went ahead and gave her another dose, then about 1.5 hours later took her some baby food and she ate about 1/3 of the jar. We'll give her a couple of hours to make sure it stays down and offer some more. I wasn't paying attention to which one I grabbed, and it turned out to be the ham. She seemed to like it just fine. Harvey was trying to break the door down the whole time I was feeding her (I wish the jars didn't make that loud POP when you open them - impossible to disguise!). When I came out I let him lick the spoon. He likes ham, too!

Had some bad news this morning. Mark's aunt in Tucson passed away in her sleep this morning. She's had heart issues for years and was being scheduled to have a defibrilator implanted, but there didn't seem to be an immediate danger. I'm just glad she went quickly and peacefully. She's been through a lot the past several years. Her DH is pretty devastated. Would appreciate prayers for him.

Poor Sasha. Many have found that cerenia works better for vomiting and ondansetron for nausea without vomiting. If Sasha continues to not be able to hold food down you might want to ask your vet about that. I hope it isn't necessary.

Look like after the nice blue surf Cinco is setting things up for an active night. I hope she moves down to blue and stays there the rest of the day.

So sorry to read about Mark's aunt. Hugs and vines to you and Mark and the family.

We gave our Zener both ondansetron and cerenia. It was as our vet, Captain Team Zener, said, Zener's Magic cocktail. Did the trick for a long time.

I too know several people that have given both ondansetron and cerenia at the same time. One vet has also told me that both when given orally are not absorbed completely and that sometimes a larger dose, as much as 4mg twice a day with ondansetron might be needed. That being said Max needed 2mg twice a day.

Thank you, Liz and Elise. Sasha is doing fine right now. She just polished off the rest of that jar of baby food. She seemed like she could have eaten more if I'd had it there. I don't want to overload her, so I'll wait a couple of hours before offering more. She did eat some TD, too, which comforts me - I know she's getting the nutrients that kitties need that aren't in baby food. Harvey, meanwhile, it fit to be tied. All he got was the lid to lick! I guess I should give him a spoonful out of the next jar. I'm going to have to restock this afternoon, at this rate. Fine with me!

The Oncologist prescribed 2mg of Ondansetron once a day. I have given her two doses a couple of times. I also have the Cerenia on hand, as we use that before travel, so I could try it. I'll see how she does. I was going to stop the Ond., since her most recent chemo was a week ago today, but perhaps I'll continue it a little longer.

Elise, I am fully prepared for an active night with Cinco. Which means he'll probably surf yellow. :roll: :lol:

Lot of kitties floating high on the ether today. Must be some fun party up there. OK Cinco, the mommbean has tossed the gauntlet for a PJ party tonight. Let's see what yellow leads to.

Sending vines for Sasha's tummy. Nothing to add to the meds discussion as my only experience with chemo and animals was with a drooler.

I'm surprised that the oncologist prescribed ondansetron once a day, Tricia. It lasts 8-10 hours and on the lymphoma and pancreatitis lists everyone gives it twice a day. That is also what I did for my lymhoma kitty and Max too. If you look it up on drugs.com it says that as well. I wonder what the reasoning is for only once a day?

I'm glad Sasha ate more and was able to keep it down. I hope Cinco will keep sliding down for you. Sending prayers for Mark and his family in the passing of his aunt.

I wonder if Cinco does have big plans for tonight??? He is one flat kitty today!!

Adding more prayers for Sasha's tummy and appy. When Trix had the p-titis, we also gave the onda twice a day. Hopefully something like that will help keep Sasha on track.

Have no experience whatsoever with the meds Sasha's taking. Can only send vines for her tummy. And her mamabean's nerves. I can, however, second the success of ham. I got growly kitties when I do pork of any kind. Downright vicious. It's my go-to when someone isn't eating.

Condolences on Mark's aunt passing.

Side note: congrats on the race Sunday. I was glad Henricks let them duke it out.

Cinco is not starting off this cycle as if he intends to take a moonlight swim, but that doesn't mean he won't. I can't say I'm thrilled with that almost-pink number. Good thing DH got tired of Cinco's yowling and shot a little early, or he might have made it to the next floor! ;-) Not sure why Cinco is so gluttonous (to borrow Amy's word) lately. Maybe because he's a bit more active? Maybe because he feels good? I don't know and I don't really care!

Elise, I don't know why she only prescribed it as once a day. Since I know it is safe to do so, I will continue to give it twice a day if I feel she needs it.

Melissa, I agree there are worse things than flat yellow. I'm just greedy. What can I say? :lol:

Sasha ate almost a normal-sized serving of cat food tonight! I had to apply some kitty crack for the last half of it, and the whole process took about 15 minutes,but she ate it and licked the last speck of Forti Flora off the plate!

Marilyn, thanks for the congrats. I was one very happy camper on Sunday. I'm still smiling about it. So, I understand, is Dale Jr.! He was tweeting the time all day yesterday (the trophy for this race is a beautiful grandfather clock). I agree that it's good they were able to race for it - thank goodness there are no team orders in NASCAR!!

I appreciate the thoughts on Mark's aunt's passing. We are all really still in shock. No idea if there will be services - his dad's family is pretty stoic and not into making a fuss. Neither of Mark's grandparents had services. We'll just have to wait for his uncle to decide what he wants to do. Mark only has two aunts (and two uncles by marriage), and his family on both sides tends to live well into their 80s (his maternal grandma is 96). She was only 71, so it was a shock.

Well now Cinco, what is up with this flat yellow stuff??? How about a nice dip into the blue lagoon for momma tonight? Hooray for a great appetite for the kitties today! I am so sorry for the loss of Mark's Aunt, no matter what, it is always a shock, sending comfort vines to the family!

Thank you for your post for Tiger yesterday, I am sorry to hear Harvey had a similar problem. I suppose this will just be one of those things I have to worry about? Tiger seems fine today, but I hate not knowing what is going on. Just thankful I have somewhere to vent, and get good adfice- thanks for listening! :YMHUG:

Ruth, once your kitty has FD, I believe you become so much more attuned than you were before, and every little issue is magnified. It doesn't necessarily mean your kitty will have more problems, but that you are paying closer attention so you notice them more! At least, that's my theory. It carries over to your civvies, too.
