Re: 11/8 JuJu AMPS 349/+2 307/+6 273/+10 326 PMPS 307
Hi there
You guys are doing great - it helps to have a partner willing and able to help handle FD. I could not have managed Black Kittys journey alone. I took care of the day shift and my DBF took care of the overnight (and became known around LL as "The Nightwatchman" )

We've been so busy and stressed for the last two weeks we haven't slept much and the house is a disaster.
The words of the late Erma Bombeck come to mind at times like these -
if it''s not on fire or blocking the fridge, it can wait ;-)

So, because Junior's numbers are remaining flat, the idea is that once he clears the bounce his numbers should start to naturally drop and remain flat? With out increasing his dose?
Once the counter-regulatory hormones clear Jujus system you will be able to see what the current dose is or is not doing and be better able to determent next steps.
With all the activity around the unexpected lows, we haven't had a chance to tell you about the 'whole cat report' or 'WCR'.
The foundation of the WCR is the '5 Ps' - purring, playing, preening, peeing and pooping. If one of the 5 Ps is off or missing - heads up.
The convention here is to include the WCR in your daily 'condo' - a simple 'all Ps are in place today' or ' WCR good'
For a kitty with a recent history of DKA, the most recent ketone test results should be included as well...
I was re-reading your initial post from the Health forum where you mentioned Juju had a slight fever. Is that still the case or has it resolved?
I ask because infection/inflammation is a key ingredient in the formation of ketones.
I can't stress enough the importance of vigilance with a kitty so fresh from an episode of DKA - they are vulnerable to recurrence.
My BK had his first go round with DKA on 05/22/2008. Slightly over 1 month later, on 06/26/2008, he was hospitalized second time for DKA.
He would not have survived a third bout.
