For the love of all that is good...who invented the flu?!?! It is awful!! The ONE year I didn't get a flu shot...the first year, ever...and here I am -- sick as a dog! (Do dogs get sick a lot? Where did that phrase come from? Anyways...)

Cobb has held his own during Matt's and my time of illness. We have struggled to get his preshots and insulin in him, so there have been no midcycle tests in a few days. I haven't done anything to his dose, and except for the 77 that he gave at PMPS last night or the night before -- it's all very fuzzy -- he's been holding steady in the mid-100s, which I appreciate. Nice of him to cooperate.

Hopefully we are at the tail end of this awful, awful disease...

Hi there

Glad to hear you and DH are on the mend.
I am just feeling human again after 2+ weeks of misery. . .I'm certain I singlehandedly put a serious dent in the world tissue supply
let's hope we all have come out of it with some antibodies to protect us the rest of the season. . .

So good of Cobb to hold steady while you recovered cat_pet_icon

Sending tons of healing and flu-be-gone vines your way Suzanne. How is Matty doing? You work in a school environment - I've heard that referred to as working in a giant petri dish of germs. Ugh!

Very nice of Cobb to keep it steady while you are down and out.

I work at the district office. I blame daycare. Matty has had a cough for about 2 weeks and just loved to cough straight in my face. I thought, after the first 4-5 days, that I had it beat. And then the hammer fell... But yes, any and every disease that one could get comes through those school/daycare doors.

Funny enough, with the whole Ebola scare , we ordered the fogging machines that can disinfect an entire classroom in a 5 minute time span. I asked my boss if I could borrow it to disinfect my office, house and car!

The vaccine is not really all that effective. They play with statistics to say it is. You are twice as likely but the difference between 1 and 2 per cent is not much by how I see it.

After reviewing more than 40 clinical trials, it is clear that the performance of the vaccines in healthy adults is nothing to get excited about. On average, perhaps 1 adult out of a 100 vaccinated will get influenza symptoms compared to 2 out of 100 in the unvaccinated group. To put it another way we need to vaccinate 100 healthy adults to prevent one set of symptoms. However, our Cochrane review found no credible evidence that there is an effect against complications such as pneumonia or death.[20] - See more at: http://www.vaccinationcouncil.org/2013/ ...
