Yesterday was a nice lowish (for Neko) start to the day a lots of yellow mid cycle followed by a bounce in the evening http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=71716.

Today is a more active cycle and the drop will of course cause another B. Sigh. Lots of purring from Neko this morning, a couple of yard patrols but no signs of anything in the LB from either cat. Neko may be using the great outdoors. She is currently purring on DH's lap.

A nice sunny day on the west coast, a good day for gardening or pressure washing if I get up the energy for it.

What about front end feeding for the early drops? Quite often, if you can manage maybe 1tbsp snack every hour for the first 4hrs, you can slow the drops, and lessen or eliminate the bouncing. You don't have to be giving more food; maybe just give less at the shot meal and spoons every hour after the shot.

Re: 5/25 Neko AMPS 452 +3 212 +4 223 +5 169

+5 169 We have the blues!

When I was shopping at the pet store yesterday, I bought some Pure Bites freeze dried turkey, which is a new product. Both kitties love that one as much as their chicken.

@Gayle, Neko currently gets 1/3 or her food at shot time, then 1/3 each at +1 and +2, and a tsp extra LC at +3 and +4 if she is dropping fast. I have the autofeeder programmed for her +1 and +2. She is on a LC raw food (4-5.5% depending on the protein).

Re: 5/25 Neko AMPS 452 +3 212 +5 169 +10 139 still blue!

+5.5 144 +10 139

I had to go out for a bit this afternoon, and left at what has been typical nadir, so fed her a couple tsp of MC to get her board shorts on. Looks like it worked, although she might have gone lower in that amount of time. Anyway, she is looking good!

Re: 5/25 Neko PMBG 184 - stalling SHOOT?

PMBG - first time under 200 for me at shot time. I'm stalling for 10 minutes to see if she is rising.

Bad me, when we got home, which was just under 2 hours ago, we had missed her +9.5 snack so got a couple of pieces of freeze dried chicken and a 1 inch piece of chicken neck. Hopefully not much carbs.

Re: 5/25 Neko PMBG 184 - stalling SHOOT?

Those are no carb snacks!

As long as you are going to be awake to monitor, have strips and HC food on hand, SHOOOOOOOOT! This may be your lowest pre-shot but it's a safe number to shoot. You don't want to lose this momentum. The numbers have been rising since your +10.

Re: 5/25 Neko PMBG 184 - stalling SHOOT?

Whew, did it! Only 10 minutes behind regular schedule so ready for an interesting evening.

Re: 5/25 Neko PMPS 184

good for you! it'll be ok - you can steer her with carbs if you need to. it's nerve-wracking the first time you shoot lower numbers than you're used to, but it's the only way to go.

don't forget whenever you're shooting a new-to-you-lowest number, always get a +1 and +2 to see where she's going.

i've been thinking about neko and you, wendy - glad to hear she's doing ok. :YMHUG:

Re: 5/25 Neko PMPS 184

You have everything you need..strips, lc, mc & hc or karo, and you are monitoring...Nothing to worry about.
The more data you get on Neko, you will see a pattern emerging on her SS--This is ALL GOOD!!
Great job you are doing!

Re: 5/25 Neko PMPS 184

Dont worry Wendy. It's perfectly safe to shoot at 184. Remember dont give Neko too much LC when you want her to surf, you dont want her to get too fulled when HC is required. And, dont add too much water to her food when you are monitoring her bg. Water is filling too! Good luck!
Have a green & peaceful night!

Re: 5/25 Neko PMPS 184 +1 216

+1 216
When I've done +1 tests before, she's gone up about 30 points. Thank goodness today is chicken - the 5.5% carb meal. She'll has 2/3 of her meal in now before onset.

@Serryn - thanks for stopping by, you brought us blue luck today!

@Sienne - thanks for the confidence booster. The ONE time we get home less than 2 hours before shot time (and late for her 9.5 snack) is the one time she would throw me that less than 200 number. I'm glad it was high enough, but it's scary given she is getting 5.5 units of insulin, which is a lot.

@Julie - I've been think of you and Punkin too. It's nerve wracking but also a milestone in a good way. It seems like a real sign of progress in getting to a correct dose.

@Roni - I wish I could lend you and Moonie some of Neko's appetite. I'm all loaded up on supplies and we'll see what I need tonight.

@Helen - thanks for the tip on water. I reduced the amount of water I normally add to Neko's meal tonight.
