6/28 Recap
AMPS 244 +3 380 - nice start to a bounce from the green night before
PMPS 396 +2 377 +3 317 - slow pink start so probably no lower than high blues if that

Today seems to also be a bounce recovery, although not sure if it's a continuation or a new one. I didn't see anything from her to bounce from yesterday, but we also did a bit of a pokation because it didn't look like much was happening.

It's a day with sun peaking through clouds. Neko has done a couple of yard patrols, one rather extensive. She then ended up sleeping in the basket in the solarium. This was a basket that used to be in "Theo's room" when he first came home from the shelter but because it's downstairs away from the people, no cat spends much time down there. I decided to move it to the solarium and Neko was in it the first day. It has a green and blue striped fleece in it, so I'm hoping she'll take inspiration from it. The nanner has also had a good workout. She was sleeping tummy up with her head resting against it.

A late post today. I had to take the car in for a recall servicing (battery connector post, nothing major). The good thing about the car dealer is it's a 5 minute scenic walk away from Thomas Haas Chocolatierhttps://www.thomashaas.com/. Thomas has been voted one of the top 10 chocolatiers in North America - a well deserved recognition. Browse the website if you want to drool. They were making several 3 foot high Eifel Towers made of chocolate in the back room. My chocolate levels have now been appropriately topped up!

They have a saying there The Answer is Chocolate, it doesn't matter what the question is. :-D On the walk back along the river to the car, I did an intervention against a pair of crows who were attacking a baby flicker. I hope it was OK - it was the other side of the river so I couldn't get to it, but did manage to scare away the crows with rocks.

Hey Neko, come on down. You were looking so much better in blue and green, a few days ago.

Hi Wendy. That yellow looks so much better than red and pink, huh? Hopefully, she will try to camouflage herself against the blue and green fleece blankie :-D

Re: 6/29 Neko AMPS 458 +3 352 +7 250

Hoping Neko comes down for you tonight. Nice job on scaring away the crows and giving the baby flicker a second chance:) Hopefully it's safe.

Come down Neko! Rosy is waiting for you at the green.
Wendy, sometimes they just bounce too often! :-x

Looks like a bit of a yellow surf. Hope that means not too high at PMPS.

@Roni - Neko definitely has a rainbow spreadsheet. I hope she'll ease off on the bouncing a bit and reduce the number of colours. I kind of like yellow, blue and green!

@Barb - I'm hoping Neko will take inspiration for her colour choice tonight from the fleece blankie. I just have to be patient when it comes to bounces.

@Tamara - tonight is another cycle - my mantra lately  I was a bit worried about the flicker because I couldn't see the parents around. But it seemed to be able to find a hidey hole in some rocks and still seemed to be mobile.

@Helen - by now I am quite used to bounces. I think she bounces more than she settles. Oh well, that's just what she is. Hopefully she'll see Rosy later tonight.

Hi Wendy...I like how Neko is coming back down!

Sorry I didn't answer your comment yesterday. Yes...there might be other reasons to try levemir. If cats are on lantus for a while and don't seem to be making a lot of progress, then it's worth a try to see if lev works better for them. Gracie was on lantus a year and I really couldn't get her to stop diving and bouncing...she never had clear nadirs. She got into alot of green but there was just not a lot of stability. So for her, lev has been a drastic improvement. Ann switched Tess for the same reasons and she hasn't seen the same response that Grace has but there is no reason to move her back. ..she has improved a degree.

I don't know if some cats do better on one insulin over the other just due to the kitty's physiology. I've also heard that lantus stings and so for a kitty getting more insulin, levemir might be a better choice. I do know that Gracie did seem to feel a sting when I got up over 1u on her lantus dose. She doesn't with lev.

Oooohhhhh..chocolate. Sign me up :-D

Hi guys,
Good luck if you decide to try Lev. Rusty had already been switched from Lantus to Lev. when we adopted him, so I can't tell you anything about switching. I believe that Phoebe switched him to Lev. because she had another cat on Lev. and didn't want to have to deal with 2 different insulins. But I can say that I think Rusty does well on Lev. My former diabetic, Stu, was on Lantus, but his dose was very wrong when we had to switch from PZI Vet (when it was discontinued), and I think he did pretty well when we found this board and finally got it all figured out with the help of everyone here. (Stu, as it turned out, had other major health issues and his bgs were rarely consistent.)

I used the rest of the scapes pesto for panini tonight. They were really good: pesto, aged gouda cheese (Beemster), tomatoes. Thanks again for the recipe! Scapes are still in the market, so I'll buy some more tomorrow.
The chocolate shop sounds wonderful.

Enjoy the weekend,

Ella & Rusty

PMPS 445
Not as high as this morning, but still ugly. Neko spent a lot of the late afternoon outside, first when I was vacuuming, then helping me with gardening. I can tell she is feeling better than she was even a month ago because she wants to be out more. She likes to sit on the steps the veranda and watch the world go by. Of course, it is a bit drier outside now...

@Marj - Lev is something I should research a bit more. I think the first steps are to talk to the vet about a blood draw. It's been a bit over 6 months and I want her to double check for infections and maybe talk to her about the IAA/acro tests. My vet is back in the office tomorrow so if I can get the BG test numbers the way she wants them, I'll drop them off and ask her to call. I won't ask her about Lev as her main experience is Caninsulin. Neko is bouncing slightly less high. The other thing to consider is giving her slightly higher carb food like you do, and upping the dose. Hard to do with a raw diet though. Neko doesn't seem to be bothered by the injections, as long as the insulin has been warmed a bit.

@Ella - still thinking about Lev, but Rusty sure has a lovely flat SS compared to little Ms. Rainbow. I made a second batch of pesto last night for pasta with the rest of my scapes crop. DH is away a couple days this weekend so maybe I'll try the panini while he is gone. I have some heirloom tomatoes in the fridge. The chocolate shop also serves lunch with heavenly sandwiches and soup, but I had a chocolate and caramel mouse cake (bad girl!).
