7/13 Recap:
AMPS 190 +2 320 +7 198
PMPS 340 +3 388

I called the vet today to see if more test results were in. The acro test results are not in yet. The urine culture came back negative (I figured that, probably could have saved the $$), but the IAA came back as 52% (normal is <20). I haven't talked to the vet yet, just got the raw number from the front desk. I'm not sure if the vet will call, but I'm not sure what she would say. I don't think they've ever run that test before. Our plan was to wait for all test results back, then possibly see an IM specialist, but I'm not sure what help that would be now.

All in all a disappointing start to the day, the red start broke a string of blue AMPS, at least it looks like an active cycle again. But Neko is still Neko, CPC status maintained, 2 yard patrols and now resting in the kitchen chair. She did a bit of play around the time she probably hit low 300's (typical behaviour). The LB was used but not for pee. Ketone tests are becoming more difficult as Neko has always preferred to pee outside and can usually hold it until she can get out.

I suspect a dosecrease is in our near future.

Re: 7/14 Neko AMPS 438 +3 286 - IAA +

Hi Wendy, good with the urine test negative. Was it a short day at the Vet. I bet they call Monday. Good call on getting all the results and then seeing an IM Specialist. Looks like Neko is making her way down. Yes, important thing is she's feeling good. That's good Neko does her pee thing outside but then bad for the ketone test. Have a nice evening there, still early afternoon here.

+5 198
And we have the blues again! Nice recovery Neko.

@Ann - the acro test gets emailed to a local vet lab who then have to forward it to my vet. From what I've heard the acro test results are known on Friday, so it depends on whether the local vet lab forwarded things on and whether they are open today. I expect I should hear on Monday. One reason I go to this current vet is they are open 7 days a week. I'm also a west coaster, so same time zone. No marine layer for us today though, although some light cloud in the AM which has now burned off.

As Sienne always say "knowledge is power", and once you know what is going on, you can make a treatment plan. So, that's the bright side of getting the test results. We will keep our paws crossed you get the rest of the results soon. Neko is doing great diving from those BLECH numbers to beautiful blue.

Very nice blues now. Both kitties are lying in the heat of the solarium (currently shaded but warmer outside that inside), listening to the music from next door. A very relaxing day for them. Yesterday I started using 33 gauge OneTouch pokies and I think Neko appreciates the difference. Normally you can't get the lancing device without a meter, but I got a sample free from the local drug store.

@Anne - I agree that it's nice to know what I'm dealing with to give me a better idea of how to proceed. Even lower blues now, I wonder if she is doing the Zener slide.

Re: 7/14 Neko AMPS 438 +3 286 + 5 198 +7 131 IAA +

(((Wendy)))

I know this is not what you wanted to hear but this allows you to come up with a plan to address it. I will PM Sandy/Black Kitty and see if she has any thoughts for you. Black Kitty is a very famous IAA cat who really gave Sandy a roller coaster ride....and he's OTJ!!!

Neko has been looking better!! Nice blue today :-D

Re: 7/14 Neko AMPS 438 +3 286 + 5 198 +7 131 IAA +

Hi Wendy -

Interesting to see the IAA result (Grayson was 50), and yet to still see so much color on her spreadsheet! It still probably comes as no surprise, given her dose, and compared to what so many others are shooting. It wasn't much of a surprise to me at least. Anyways, just wanted to pop in and say hi. We leave in the morning, so stay tuned. Hopefully with just HIM as my focus, I'll have more time to post about his experiences. So much for leaving the house clean for the pet-sitters!

Re: 7/14 Neko AMPS 438 +3 286 + 5 198 +7 131 IAA +

Wendy --

Whether the acro test is positive or not, Neko is exactly the same cat he was before you had the tests run. He doesn't care what the labs say. He still is your kitty and your his bean. That hasn't changed. Neko is far more than a bunch of numbers on a lab test.

What the IAA test tells you is that you have room to be aggressive with dosing. How you approach dose will also depend on the results of the acro test. You know that we will help you to deal with the dose issue and will always be here for support and encouragement.

Oh Wendy my dear i am sorry to read that Neko is IAA positive, but at least you know and can move forward now. Hugs to you both ((((((Wendy)))))) ((((((Neko)))))

Nice dip into blues today BTW ;-)

Re: 7/14 Neko PMPS 112 - dosecrease?

+7 131 PMPS 112
I probably should have tested at +9, I rather suspect there might have been some green in there. Oh well, I didn't. This is officially Neko's lowest ever PS number. I had one lower earlier this week but stalled 15 minutes until it was higher. And of course I was at a friends father's birthday party 15 minutes away and came back for test/feed/shoot. I suspect I'll dash back for dinner then be back here again for that +2.

I know I'm supposed to be aggressive with IAA, but Neko keeps on throwing me these lovely numbers so I find it hard to jump up too much now. Any suggestions? As of this morning I was thinking dosecrease tomorrow AM, but now I'm not sure what to do or how much.

@Marje - thanks for getting in touch with Sandy. I'd like Neko to be "Black and White Kitty" with a similar storyline.

@Lu - thanks for popping by. I did go and check Grayson's number as soon as I found out. Now I'm really curious about the acro results, because as you say, there is some colour and it seems to keep coming back. Best of luck on your trip - looking forward to hearing the stories. I hear you on cleaning for the pet sitters - they are probably used to it!

@Sienne - thanks for the support. Neko is still herself, and actually acting and feeling much better now, and even getting used to some nice numbers at this dose. I'm still mystified at how to be aggressive given what I'm seeing so any suggestions gratefully received.

@Tracy - thanks for taking the time to stop in given your very busy day. Have fun on the road trip! I always like data, so knowing what I'm dealing with is comforting in that way.

Re: 7/14 Neko PMPS 112 +2.5 166 dose?

You're welcome...I sent her a message....hopefully she'll check in soon. I love that...black and white kitty :-D

Re: 7/14 Neko PMPS 112 +2.5 166 dose?

Hi Wendy, I didn't get the chance to visit today, so I'm up late, (can't sleep, now that I can, it figures I can't) I'm sorry about the positive IAA dx , but I will keep my fingers and paws crossed for good info on Monday, I hope it will be Monday…I can't stand the wait for any test, its so hard. Hang in there Wendy.

Thanks for visiting us even though you have so much to deal with. We really appreciate it.

Blue and more blue! Thank goodness for late night rerun of the TDF. She's going up, but pretty slowly for her.

@Barb - thanks for your good wishes! I should hear on Monday, that will be the 10 business days and I'll start pestering if it isn't!
