Karre's 1-Month-OTJ Caturday Condo (1/9/2012)

Greetings from the Falls, Lantus Land!

Hear ye, hear ye: His Royal Highness, Karre the Emperor, invites one and all to join him at his "Greatness of Greenness" cocktail party this evening at the Imperial Palace, to celebrate his (second) first whole month of juicelessness. He should be forever grateful if kitties and beans alike were to favour him with the pleasure of their company. In honour of those from amongst our FD ranks who are in need of some additional vinesage, there will be a special VCB (Vines Collection Booth) set up in the Imperial Gardens. His Majesty asks that particular attention be paid to Marjorie, Gracie, Maggie, BJ, Jill, Charlie, Ella, Priss, Max, Sushi, Tarragon, and any and all others who require it. There will of course be an open bar serving catnipinis, tunaritas, and various surprise kitty cocktails, and including His Majesty's custom-made magical crystal decanter, which will dispense the beverage of choice to any and all beans. :-D

His Majesty's WCR remains well-nigh unblemished, all 5 Ps being consistently present and his favourite BG-colour holding steady at mostly-green (with the exception of the occasional unsightly mid-range blues, which are, however, luckily followed without fail by an intervention from Mr. P, averting any real crises thusfar). The 1-Month-OTJ BG was 5.0/90. His Majesty wishes to thank all kitties and beans who took the time to visit the Caturday Condo of the 25th of August, and to express his appreciation for the enlightening discussions in hopes that this week's condo, too, will serve as a social venue for FD- and Non-FD-related topics of interest.

Before I move on to this week's opening series of photographs, I would like to make a request, if I may:

Could any and all of you who check in here please take a few extra minutes to include a quick WCR or otherwise entitled general kitty/bean update? As most of us know, our dear Marje is battling evil tummy-demons and cannot participate in LL as she would like to, and I'm sure she would greatly appreciate being able to get a good LL-Overview from all your WCRs in here. I, too, would be very grateful if you could indulge me in this request.

And so we move on: With the following photos, His Majesty hopes to entice all of you further to attend the party and enjoy the Imperial Gardens, upon which he largely focused the images. His Royal Highness carefully thought out which of the beautiful sights adorning his Gardens he would offer you this week, while he lay nestled in his favourite rainbow blanket:

He contemplated consulting with King Henry but, alas, the King was otherwise engaged...

One of his royal advisors, Otto the Gecko, was also unavailable, it being necessary for him to hide from his wife, Suzette the Geckette, who was rather more than displeased with Otto having eaten the entire Dry Fly Pie she had specially prepared for their upcoming wedding anniversary...

Realizing that he would have to keep his own counsel, he decided to let the images offer (and speak for) themselves as he strolled slowly across the lawn.

Untitled  In fact, perhaps the rest ought to be left so, too, and instead be named by any of you who have suggestions.

Taking a last look across the grounds, on his way back to the Palace, His Majesty was filled with gratitude at having reached the Falls a second time, at his special milestone today, and at the support and kindness of all of you.

Queen Magpie decided to stay behind - an insouciant mouse might unwarily mosy right across the grass - one never knows...

King Henry saw the logic in the Queen's reasoning, and sharpened his claws in anticipation...

The Little Prince, Luca, however, thought it best to return with the Emperor. It was time for his kitty yoga session anyway.

Thus endeth the Opening Post of this Caturday Condo.
Come one, come all!

Hugs,
Jane.

Congrats Karre! It must be heaven at the fall for a month! Oh yes, we are so honoured to be invited to your party! I'll bring along my rebel Rosy & the Singapore sling cocktail from SG. Wish you can teach Rosy how to behave like a lady at the Falls!
Pls thank your beans for their support to the poor uncle Tony while I am away!
:YMHUG: Auntie Helen

All hail His Royal Highness, Karre the Emperor! Congratulations on his one month at the falls!
Always love your pics, Jane. Looks like you live in a magical wonderland!

Whole cat report from the Dutch Ghetto here in PA, USA is good. Lord Asher is trying a bit of a higher dose this week and his brother Prince Noodle, aka Alby, is having a drink from the bathroom sink and looking for birds in the window.

All is well in the world :-D Blessings to you and all the furry royalty!

Congratulations Karre on this milestone, a whole month at the Falls already! Jasper was inspired and motivated by your telepathic Karre-cycle sessions and will be joining you very soon. It will be our honor and pleasure to celebrate with you tonight. Cheers!
WCR: Jasper is 5 Ps, no meds, wet food has done wonders for his fur cat_pet_icon Steady green lights  and on track to complete his OTJ trial Monday :-D . He misses Marje our borg queen as do we all!

Love the pictures, as always :-D that first one looks like it could be a painting. What a look on Magpie's face

Congratulations on ONE MONTH OTJ Karre!

My kitties can't wait to see everyone at the party.. Thanks!

Congratulations your Majesty! We look forward to the cocktail party tonight. I'll try and get Ella in a yellow number instead of the pinks that she's been wearing against my wishes.

WCR: As of late, Ella has joined the CPC. She has a bit more energy but is still enjoying those cat naps a bit more than ususal. She finally came around with some purrs and is scheduled for dental in the near future. We're hoping the dental will help bring down some of her numbers. The latest news, is that the specialist and her internist thinks she may have smoledring pancreatitis but that's a long story and we'll be working on figuring out if this is true.

Thanks for the invitation to the party!

Congratulations on 1 month OTJ! The pictures are beautiful. It looks like all of the cats are doing well. Thanks for sharing.

WCR: Furball earned a reducie last night. I hope it takes. She seems to be over her ear infection. She has been happy and purry as usual. She is a very loving kitty.

Off Topic: I took some pictures of the blue moon last night. I do not do well on night pictures. I don't have a fancy camera, but here are the 2 that came out the best. There were clouds around the moon.

Congrats to Karre!

WCR - Jean Luc has been trying to wear the green clothes, but cannot seem to get them to fit past his toes. Maybe he needs needs a bigger size or he needs to shrink his toes. He prefers to wear his fat red and pink ones with splashes of yellow instead. He purrs nicely and likes to cuddle in the wee hours of the am. He is weaning off his visits to potty. They must have had some words or maybe box said "You know , I get tired of seeing you so often. You keep getting me wet!". Despite our red party, kitty is active and has momentary blasts of enthusiastic runs down the hall.

Wishing all happy green healing vines.

Jane,
Will post again later. But you mentioned the Green Theme, and a need for vines...
These were taken from the top of our Lighthouse, and show a good portion of the 5000 acres that I like to call "my yard". There are miles and miles of green vines in these pictures, although my phone doesn't quite pick up that level of detail.

Sending these vines out to anyone who needs one or two...

Have a great Caturday! I'm off to work..

Carl

Congratulations Karre!!!

Wonderful news!

WCR - Leo is slowing his bounces, but managed to launch himself right off the end of the needle last night, much to the surprise of his bean, left holding an empty syringe and stinky old band-aid smelling fingers. And as expected, he zoomed up to nearly black (missed it by 9 points). But happily, at +5 he dipped back down to 214! Hopefully that's a nice recovery and not a fall that would precipitate another bouncy. We'll probably get a pink tie to add to his hot red pants and yellow top hat for the festivities.

Thanks for the invitation to the grand event! We'll take a mosey on over with catmopolitans in hand/paw.

Lisa and Leo

:RAHCAT :RAHCAT :RAHCAT CONGRATULATIONS KARRE!!! :RAHCAT :RAHCAT :RAHCAT
And thank you Jane - so much - for going the extra extra mile for us yesterday during Reuben`s skydiving malfunction  And thank you Carl, Melanie and Leslie for helping out too. You guys are the best! Alexa

Hi Jane & Karre!

Congratulations on your 1 month anniversary! otj_icon :RAHCAT :thumbup
We're so glad things are going so well for you and love your photos as always. :-D

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Hey Karre, I'll try to come to your party but it will be hard. The little bean will be sleeping here and you know how they always follow us cats around, so I'll have to duck by him and sneak out. I'll either be wearing green or light blue. See you then! Racci

What a great condo and a great idea!!! I love all the WCRs and I'm so happy to read them and see how everyone is doing!!! I love all the photos!!!

Gracie, Tobey, and Gus are excited about the party tonight. Gracie is wearing her lovely green dress and little princess slippers but intends to dance the night away. Tobey thinks Queen Magpie is quite lovely!

And we send lots of vines to all the ones who need them....we hope Maggie poos regularly, that Tarragon likes his new meds, that Jill and Charlie both feel better soon, that Ella gets her dental and it makes her feel better, lots of vines for Sushi and Priss. And hugs for all of the rest of you and your babies. :-D :-D

Happy one monthaversary Karre! A very well deserved party this will be! Loved the garden shots - you have a great camera. (and cute kitties too).

Neko sends her best. She is wearing green for the second day in a row in spite of last nights reducie. She is celebrating a 3.5 weekiversary since SRT and it seems to be agreeing with her. She just finished playing with her nanner and insisted on going outside AGAIN. She is acting a bit more nimble going down the stairs but I don't know if that is early post SRT effects or the Recovery Formula (similar to Cosequin) that I started her on a few weeks ago. One thing I have noticed lately is she doesn't mind being active in the greens, instead of just lying around, so perhaps the green dresses are fitting her a bit better these days.

Hi Jane, what an great WCR on Karre the Emperor and as always, beautiful pics of your surroundings and awesome pics of Karre and your furbaby family! Congratulations to Karre and you on 1 months OTJ! He is doing just beautifully. Maggie can't wait to attend the Greatness of Greenness cocktail party this evening. Thank you Majesty Karre for setting up the special Vines Collection Booth in the Imperial Gardens and including her.

Maggie is just starting her cocktail of meds which involves Cisapride every 8-12 hours, special flavor Chicken Lactulose 2-3 times a day and lastly Miralax sprinkled in her food. She spent two days at the Vetty having a special spa treatment, and had a total of three enemas, three sets of X-rays, lots of fluids and love and attention from the Staff. We're still waiting for the latest installment of a magical poo to be delivered any time now! :-D

Have a great weekend.

His Imperial Majesty, Don Maximiliano arrivith! HIs wisheth to congratulate Emperor Karre on his one month at the Falls, and suggest that the two Emperors discuss the current state of catitude at the Falls as well as inquire of him whether his servants continue to refuse to provide him with the treats he enjoyed prior to his illness? Yes? Well, rats! Oh, rats are on the menu, however? Well that is nice to know, and something to look forward to. And they are organic, non-GMO, AND were raised free of antibiotic use? Excellent!

His Imperial Majesty (HIM) failed to arrive prior to the time his clothing turned blue this evening, but he likes to stand out. So, he entered the Great Hall of the Emperor Karre's Palace regardless. His court is in tow, and all doth partake of the catmopolitans, catnipinis and tunaritas, as well as any and all possible canapes. HIM hopes to find a nice catio, and has sent his valet to discover one. He will be pleased to share his catnip, specially grown for him hydroponically, organically, and hybridized to be of optimal enjoyment in the event his valet doth find such catio available for the spreading of his catnip

HIM's servants report that he did poo today (much to HIM's displeasure that this information is shared) but that HIM managed to drag said poo out of the LB and halfway across the floor to the stairway depositing said poo in a very unsightly place -- the middle of the foyer. HIM is now, upon hearing that this information is shared, doubly disappointed that his servants discovered said poo by sight and NOT under a bare foot!

HIM is eating well today, relatively happy, and took his evening nap in the bathtub upstairs, much to his servants' surprise and confusion.

It is possible that HIM has lost some of his hearing, as HIM did not greet his servants upon their return to his abode, and instead was awakened when his male servant was desperately searching the castle, and finally, and with a great lack of hope, discovered HIM, blear-eyed in the tub. His female servant has, within the last couple of months, noticed that she is able to startle HIM by petting him when he is sleeping soundly in various places about the castle. At the age of 85, this is to be expected, his servants suppose.

Having enjoyed the Emperor's party immensely, HIM thanks the Emperor and takes his leave wishing all a goodnight!

nailbite_smile nailbite_smile YOUR MAJESTY PLEASE EXCUSE OUR TARDINESS nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

PIRATE FITZEL OFFERS A BAGFUL OF BOOTY TO HRH KARRE ON THE MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF OTJ!

The Pirate's WCR is a bit under the weather as she's been drydocked with test stress related issues. Not even her finest black sails seemed to alleviate her hidey un-natural nature. Most of her P's were in place, except purring - very little purring these days, but Mommy Bean is determined to plot a course to rescue the Pirate from her nervous exile so, once again, she may terrorize the high seas of North Hollywood instead of just terrorizing Mommy with her indifference to Mommy's constant efforts at loving her up.

So glad His Majesty is performing his patrolling in such splendid gardens. Especially noted was the very high majestic tree atop the craggy rocky mount.

Much continued happiness at the Falls oh, glorious one. Now, if we may be excused, if there's anything left at the buffet we must be off to scarf. :-D

Shai and Pirate Fitz

:-D Very happy for you and Karre :-D

From the court of the Count Bj - Bad resperatory infection. We had to send for the royal chymist and astronomer. An elixir was presented. We hope he will gain in strength in time for the siege against the neighboring cat kingdom. Sergeant at arms reports low morale in militia.

Okay, Kids, we're back from the weekend craziness. (It was *supposed* to be a nice quiet one with a little daytrip. And then life happened. Typical.)

Ah well. Good to see LL ticking along nicely. His Majesty sends his heartfelt Thanks to all of you who joined the Greatness of Greenness celebrations - it was a wonderful night, and will hopefully not be the last of its kind. The 2-month milestone beckons. In the meantime, His Highness is doing his utmost to instruct his feline friends in the finer points of royal posing. Below, a shining example of the successful lesson administered to King Henry on how to allow minions to perform their requisite daily abject grovelling complete with a kiss to the royal paw

284698_10100322882029233_1061272786_n.jpg

"You may kiss it."

Hugs to you all. Let's have a great week!
Find us here, in PM-land, or in LL.

Love the Panda!

Did somebody say "vines"?

Could be lots of stuff....poison ivy, honeysuckle, trumpet vines, wysteria, muscadine... Almost all the trees, especially the slash pines, are covered with them.

...and staying with the "green theme", the obligatory turtle pics of the week...

I rescued this newly hatched Diamondback Terrapin from drowning. It was a couple of months before the Loggerheads would be hatching, and a tourist was attempting to "set it free" at the water's edge, and couldn't understand why it would wash back up and move away from the water instead of swimming away.... "Well, ma'am, it's actually not a sea turtle. While they do go in fresh or brackish water to find food, they actually don't live there full time. Two clues.... one, sea turtles can't retract their limbs and head inside of their shells. And two, it has claws and feet, not flippers. But thanks, I'll just be putting this little guy back in the sand dunes you found him in....."

And this is an adult Yellow-belied Slider, near the edge of a pond inhabited by an eight-foot female gator. Potentially "lunch" at some point in it's life (most likely the "end" of said life). I've seen one get munched. Pretty incredible. Neither the turtle nor I saw the gator before the big splash right after the turtle went swimming. Saw her get a squirrel once too, and I saw that one coming. Made me think of the photographers for Nat Geo who sit there filming the lion bringing down the gazelle or the wildebeest, knowing it's just "nature" but leaving you feel sort of "guilty" afterwards. Like, "wow, maybe I should have said something".
Oh, by the way, an adult YB Slider can shoot a stream of urine about 4 or 5 feet. I found that out the hard way when I picked one up that was in the middle of the road to move it off so it wouldn't get squashed by a car. So if you pick one up, make sure it's head is facing you...

Happy One Month OTJ Sir Karre! I'll add to the 'green' AND the vines too (thumbnails):

Mexican Sour Gherkin vine:

They're really small and look like tiny watermelons:

Awww Carl - LOVE the turtles!

Wow, thanks for the stories and photos, Carl and Lyresa!! Amazing!

Here in Africa picking up tortoises is a great big faux-pas. As Carl so vividly describes, they will very often urinate out of a reflex. And down here, they can become dehydrated pretty quickly, so people are told to "herd" them rather than carry them. We have leopard tortoises living on and around the estate, and they'll often come into our garden. I love it when they visit! We feed them with lettuce :-D

Love all the stories! Keep them coming!
Hugs
Jane

OMG! I never thought of that!!!! They move around in the Midwest of the U.S. when it rains and they are trying to get to higher ground. (I'm not doing a very good job of staying off the board, am I? LOL)

Jane, Glad Karre is back in the green, what a relief! Your devoted student here continues to follow your lead, I am also trying to test only once a day unless Jasper goes above the 120 threshold.
I like your Karre's weekly Caturday condo too, I had just gotten used to doing Jasper's daily condo and it feels a bit strange to visit condos without a place of our own. Maybe I will post something like Jaspers Fursday condo tomorrow for anyone who may be interested to know how he is doing. Have a great day!

That's a lovely idea, Leslie! The caturday condo tradition came up a while back to allow for oldtimers and OTJers to keep checking in without adding too much to the busy LL traffic. You're welcome to join the tradition, I'd love that as I'm sure the rest of us here would! Fursday or Caturday or whenever suits you

Hugs

Oh my, lots of excitement overnight that I missed! Well done to everyone who babysat a low cycle!

And thanks for the laughs! Typoes are the best! In Lisa/Leo's condo, there was "Grave Lovers," and in Alexa/Reuben's condo, there was "4-6% crabs" Seriously guys, when the stress of low numbers has passed, read back and enjoy!

Off to co condo rounds.
Hugs
Jane

Hmm - no one's seen Denise/Shakespeare, I take it? I'm a bit worried. Does anyone have an email address for her, or a number, or does someone live close to her?

In other news: Karre is green. Jane is red. His Majesty is green due to very pretty numbers. Jane is red because she decided to open this year's swimming season early, right after August, which is the coldest month of the year down here  So, she went swimming in the 17° pool after training, and came out the colour of her favourite coffee mug: lobster-red! She's not sure why she's referring to herself in the third person, either. :-D

Ok, snapping out of it! LL is ticking along nicely - I hope it's a nice, relaxed weekend all round. I'm off to make quinoa tabouleh - been writing all morning and my brain needs the kind of respite only to be found in culinary exploits. Of course, in order to do that, I have to go to the back courtyard, climb a rickety chair and manoevre the dreaded thorns of our lime tree in order to harvets a couple of fruits. Ah well.

WCRs are good for all 4 cats. Henry's WCR does have a little ding though - he had to go to the vet yesterday to have his right ear checked. He kept scratching at it and shking his head, and folding the ear downwards. They had to sedate him, poor baby, to take a closer look. No foreign body, but a little scratch - maybe from a bit of brotherly rough-and-tumble with Luca, maybe from a pesky twig out during a garden adventure, hard to say. My money's on a little kitty spat - he has a small patch of missing fur under his eye. The vet put him on Synulox for a week to ward off an infection in that ear. (On the drive there, I promised Henry that I'd make him his very favourite treat, pan-fried (and then skinned) duck breast. Sure enough, when he got home, still a bit groggy, he went and sat down by the fridge, meowing reproachfully at me. I swear he knows the words "duck breast" by now  He got his promised treat, of course. I was a very sneaky bean and hid his first dose of ABs in a piece of duck breast, too, but he didn't mind. He finished the whole thing, about a palm-size! And then he went with his little round belly and napped on the art chair. Gotta love it.) Everyone else is happy, purry, pretty and perfect.

I'll try for some more pretty pictures tomorrow for the new Caturday Condo
Hugs
Jane

no posts since august 27th.... I pray it's just a matter of "life" intruding on posting. The SS hasn't been updated either.
