Yesterday

All good here this morning, after last night's cat fight. I got the worst of it with bites and/or scratches on my leg. I am going to pick up the AB script now. Zener's appy is ok, not as good as recent mornings but I left out a bunch of food last night and it was mostly gone this morning. Impossible to tell how much he ate and how much Tillie ate. :roll: He seems to be walking fine. Thank you to everyone for your advice and good thoughts. It is very much appreciated! We are very thankful to be a part of the LL family. :-D

Thinking of Moonie, Roni and DH. I hope the new apt is helping them all feel better.

Glad that the cat bite is not serious, Liz!
Zener must have got too excited over the fight yesterday that disturbbed his mood & appy. Hope both of you get better soon.

Hi Liz, glad you and Zener are okay, what a scare! Sending Zener appy vines. Sounds like Zener could have filled up last night! Glad he is walking okay. Sending vines for you and Zener.

I am so sorry I missed all that went down with you and Zener yesterday. WOW on it all. I am glad that you went to the ER, took the precautionary measures. And that Zener is OK. We used to have cat fights like that around her all the time. Garden hoses worked great to break them up. I have yet to meet a cat that likes to be that wet.... well, except for BJ who loved to be sprayed with the hose. Keep a watch on Zener, know you will. My son's cat was recently bitten by another, he never did find any wounds, until they started to swell, became infected a few days later. I wish you a nice calm day today.

Nice start for Zener today. Blues next Z-Man? and eat your fuds, OK?

I hope Zener's appetite picks up. Maybe he's still stressed from last night?

Good morning! What a night last night! I'm glad you are OK and hope that Zener stays fine too. Just 1.5 hours at the ER, not bad at all. I'm glad that you got there , but can sympathize w/ fretting to get home to your cat!

So happy to hear that you and Zener seems to be feeling well today! And his numbers aren't too shabby, either...especially with "free feeding" last night! Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving with snuggles and cuddles!

Hi Liz, Happy Thanksgiving! I just caught up on yesterday, glad you were there to break up the cat fight and you and Zener are both OK :-D . Cat bites and scratches can get very nasty, as others have said, please keep a close eye on your wounds and on Zener.

Hi Liz.....since you haven't posted otherwise, I assume you and Zener are okay today? By that, I mean, no serious, infected, swollen wounds. I bet you're pretty sore.
Hope Zener's little body isn't sore today.
That must have sounded horrid. I hate the sound of even mock fighting of my own cats.

Lucky you, being close enough to drive to Marje and Mike's. :smile:

Hi everyone, thank you for checking on us. Yes, all good here. My leg doesn't hurt at all, must be the pain relief in the neosporin. Anne has inspected the wounds via Face Time and pronounced them good. I am taking the AB. Zener's doing fine but his left rear paw is a little tender, possibly a sprain. He is walking normally (for him :roll: ) and putting weight on it. We have a vetty appt tomorrow at AM+6.5 to get it checked out. He's been flat yellow today so it's anyone's guess what he'll do tonight. I really wish Marje would get that crystal ball working. :lol: Marje isn't really close enough to visit for the day, it's a 4.5 hr drive one way. It would be nice... She is about 2 miles from my sister though.

I am very sad to read about Reuben's passing. I know Alexa is incredibly sad to lose her sweet boy. He has been through so much, this was just too much.

I just found a little swollen, tender place on Zener's ear. I poked it with a lancet and got some blood out and maybe a little pus, then put neosporin on it. He growled but let me do it. Jeesh. Any suggestions on the best antibiotic to get for him?

I don't have any advice on the AB for Zener's ear. I just wanted to check on you and Zener. I'm glad you have a vet appointment tomorrow. I hope it's nothing serious with his ear and leg. Liz, I'm glad your leg is better.

I don't know which ab the vet will prescribe (if any), but it is good that you have caught it quickly and are taking him in. I would check the skin and paw pads all over that sore paw for any swellings, and also run your hands all over his body surface before you leave for the vet. Abscesses can take a few days to swell up. Nothing worse than finding a swelling after you come home from the vet. The ear might not be too bad a place for a bite, as it is shallow, and there won't be a deep pocket for anaerobic bacteria to grow.

He growled at you?! Sweet Zener?!?!?! Poor thing really didn't want you poking his ear...unlike the 5,000 other times you've poked his ear! :razz: Hope the vet has some good advice/meds for him tomorrow.

Yes, sweet Zener was showing his inner Mr. Hyde! :lol: It is right on the tip of the ear. He won't let me feel much on the paw. I am here by myself and I think it might be a two person job.

Liz, I'm so glad that you have a vet appt. for Zener tomorrow. The vet will know what a/b to use and will be able to check for other bites much better than you can. Poor Z-Man got it on his ear! Keeping fingers and paws (especially paws) crossed for a clean bill of health tomorrow.

I just felt Zener's paw a little more and I didnt feel anything unusual there. It seems his whole left hip is tender. He REALLY hissed and growled when I did that. I didn't feel any abscesses though. He's laying on that side now and he walks normally (for him). I am wondering if he just tweaked it when he was chasing after the other cat.

Liz, I'm sorry that I missed your condo yesterday. So scary! I'm glad you went to the ER to get the bites/scratches checked out and I hope Zener gets a good report at the vet. He probably sprained his leg a little after racing after the other cat. I hope it is nothing serious. Sending big healing vines to you and Zener tonight.

I'm glad you are okay. Kitty scratches and bites can be nasty. I hope Zenner is okay. Sending vines for a good vetty visit. As for topical antibiotics, I use polysporin. Happy Thanksgiving. Also sending vines that you recover quickly.

Poo Patrol has had a big day, with spottings of poo behavior from both Tillie and Zener. Both were very healthy! :-D Zener and I are playing tent now (he's under my knees and a blanket).

I would make sure to wash the area on Zener's ear. Neosporin is probably OK but I don't know of other options.

I'm not sure about the A/B for that either. However, when Gracie had that abscess on her chin, they gave her clavamox. She's about the only cat I know who doesn't get sick with it. Please keep us posted.

Uh....on the crystal ball....it's still in the shop...I really gotta get on those people about getting it fixed!

It's good you are getting Zener into the vet. In addition to feeling sore, an abscess would feel warm to touch. For abscesses, keep the wound site open and drained. Hold something warm against a wound for several minutes, a few times a day. The shelter I worked at we used a facecloth or gauze with warm water. Maybe his rice sock would work? For antibiotic, I seem to remember we used very dilute betadine. You might want to wait to hear what the vet says.

Thank goodness for Facetime! Anne must be so worried being so far away.
