Yesterday

Zener is doing ok this morning. His hip is still pretty sore and he didn't do a full yard patrol this morning. I applied heat to his ear, drained the abscess (looked like mostly blood) and put more neosporin on it. It didn't seem as painful this morning as last night. I am trying to feel for any other abscesses but he is kind of grumpy about it. His appy is OK but I think he ate a bunch of food overnight. I shouldn't leave so much out, plus it was the proplan chicken which tends to spike his BG a bit. We are going to the vetty at +3.

I noticed late last night that the date on Zener's condo yesterday was 2/22 - and no one pointed that out. Are you guys slipping or just giving me a break? :lol: :lol:

Thinking of Roni, Moonie and DH and hope the apt is working out for them. We are also very sad to read of Reuben's passing, thinking of Alexa too.

ETA: Detective Poo saw both Zener and Tillie in action yesterday. Both are good in that department. :-D

I'm sure you'll feel better after seeing the vet today! Hope Zener comes back with a clean bill of health and maybe something to ease the pain. Let us know what they find.

Liz, I think we're all so in sync with what we all mean we didn't notice, or I didn't notice! :lol: :lol:

Sending many good Vetty vines for Zener and hope he is a okay. That is good to know with the ear and it doesn't seem painful, poor baby! I hope his hip is just bruised and sore and nothing more serious. I tend to leave too much food overnight for Mags, too. We'll be waiting for an update from Vetty and also hoping sor a successful prezzies report, too. How are your wounds, healing okay?

Thanks for checking in, everyone. I sure do appreciate your concern. :-D My wounds are fine. They are normal body temperature, no redness, and no pain. Will let you know what the vet says.

Good luck at the vetty. It sounds like the wound on Zener's ear is healing well, and that perhaps it is a minor one. I cannot count the numbers of abscesses I have dealt with over the years. Main thing is is to keep them as open a possible so they can drain and heal from the inside out. ALot of times too one will not see the bite mark, or scratch, but will find a raised somewhat swollen area. I think you've doen great with Zener and this cat fight. I suspect that maybe is hind end is just sore, from the chase, etc. Good luck with the vetty. and Zener you be good there.

I am glad too that your wounds are healing well. YAY!

We just got back from the vet. Zener has a sprained ankle (the same one he sprained when he was about 8 months old and broke his fibula and sprained his ankle when he caught the cast on a lamp leg and pulled it off). You know how those old injuries can get re-aggravated. :roll: The abscess on his ear is doing fine. The vet didn't find any others and said to keep checking him for more. No ABs for now. His temperature is 100.5 F, perfectly normal. 102.5 F is the upper limit. She also said that abscesses start to appear before the temperature goes up, which surprised me a little bit. Zener also got his anal glands expressed. Perfect timing as they were full but expressed easily. :-D That saves Anne from taking him after she gets home next Friday. So all looks good with our guy. Boy howdy, am I relieved! :-D

Whew! I am so relieved that both you and Zener are doing well after that cat fight. Thank goodness the leg injury was "just" a sprain. Zener - you are getting too old to go chasing after these tom cats like you did when you were a kitten! Nice on getting the glands expressed easily.

Only 7 more darks until Anne comes home?

Liz, what good Vetty news for Zener. :-D I know how relieved you must be feeling, too. Sending healing vines and hugs for Zener's ankle. Have a nice day. Maybe you can get out for a nice run or walk if it isn't too cold. It's 55 degrees here, cold for us but will warm up later/

Me too Liz. Thankful that Zener has nothing more serious than a sprained ankle. Does he get to have pain meds for that?
Is it wrapped in an Ace bandage? ( I'm picturing my DD yesterday with her sprained ankle.) Those Ace bandages can get a guy lots of sympathy :-D
I am also very happy that your injuries are healing well, with no lingering pain.

Yay, that Anne will be home in a week. Happy news for you and Zener. :-D

So glad Zener's vet visit went well and he doesn't even need AB's. Hope the sprain heals quickly and glad your wounds are healing well.

Liz, this is GREAT NEWS! Now, Z-Man, take it easy for a few days and let your ankle heal, OK?

:lol: on the 2/22. But, it could be very easy to confuse the Arabic numeral 11 with the Roman numeral II and, in the confusion, write 2. Of course that's what happened!

Good to hear on the vetty report. Z-man, no chasing! You know you couldn't catch the youngster anyway! Glad to hear you are doing well too, and yay for only 7 more darks!

Yep, the good vetty report was a huge relief! :-D :-D And only 7 more darks. Yay! Now, about these numbers... I am thinking he could be a little high because of pain. His ear is looking good.

Not a bad report, Zener! Glad to hear that he doesn't need to be on AB, but sorry to hear about the aggravation of his old war wound! (sounds so much cooler!) :-D Glad he got the anal sacs taken care of while he was being poked and prodded! ;-) Now...those numbers. You and Mannie need to get back down to the blues so we can ALL party together. OK?!
