I went out today, and left plates of Friskies Seafood Entree Pate, for all 3 cats.

This is what I get from Checkers. :o

Now I read there is rice in it, and Lisa's new chart says 9% carb. This is double what he gets in the FancyFeast.
Can that possibly be enough to send him soaring like this?

So now I have to save this for MC, and find new foods that all can eat. I really can't afford to feed FF to all 3 of them.

Civvies accepted wet again today. flip_cat

Hi Barb, just stopping by to say hello to you, Checkers and the civvies. I've never used the food you mentioned, so not sure how much it would send Mags soaring. Good news with the civvies eating wet. dancing_cat dancing_cat

Did you look at the Friskies Special diet on Dr. Lisa's chart? most of the special diet look to be 4/5% .

I got a 549 on the Relion I've been using all day. In fact, for several days. It just made no sense to me at all.

I got suspicious of the meter, and retested immediately, and it was 90 points lower. That makes me question the numbers all day.

He has had no contraband, but did have the Friskies with rice in it, earlier today.
He had a good shot this morning.
For breakfast and supper, he had Fancy Feast. Midday,he had boiled chicken. Nothing to account for these numbers. :YMSIGH:

Sorry for the numbers Barb, that was me this morning. grr_red But :thumbup on the civies eating wet food. Good luck with the increase.
 
Oh, those meters can really mess you up! Which Relion do you use? Can you switch to your back-up for a few days and see if there is an appreciable difference?

Ella, I've been using the Confirm. I was out of Presto strips, until today. I can't blame the high numbers solely on the meter, just tonight's black number on the ReliOn shocked me into retesting.
I hope by tomorrow, the increase kicks in.

Boy, you ain't kidding about reading labels. I thought all pates were good.
 
Ugh! Maybe the batteries need changing, although that 90 point difference is in the 20% "allowed" variance. :roll:

I was going to suggest the Friskies special Diet fuds too, all but the Chicken in Gravy are LC and the Turkey and Giblets is low phosphorus too.
 
Hi Barb - oh wow what a day for you... can so sympathize, Mannie has bee there so much of late. I'm sorry - it seems like you had a day today, what with the meter and then the Friskies. I wish I had other food suggestions for you,... just don't. Mannie is a wellness, Merrick and FF kitty, none of which are cheap. It sounds like the Friskies Special Diet might be good.

Bummer that Checks went so high today. Mannie was there too.... Sometimes they just do, without any easily seen reason. Mannie can be that way - he never has followed the rule book. Maybe it as just one of those days for Checks. I hope tomorrow is better for you, and Checkers.

it is awesome though that the civvies are eating wet food. YAY!!!! Wishing you continued success there.
