Good Morning, Everyone,
Rusty had his "no-hairball hack" at dawn (it is not a hairball, but his lung congestion, as I have learned; he has not been diagnosed with asthma: the IDEXX pathologist's diagnosis is "mild/moderate pyogranulomatous inflammation). This afternoon I can pick up the Allerplex at his vet's and we will begin treatment. The formula includes as one of its principal ingredients Fenugreek, which apparently can ". . .soften and dissolve hardened masses of accumulated mucus . . ." from the lungs, helping the body ". . . expel mucus and phlegm from the bronchial tubes more easily." (Standard Process Allerplex brochure). This is what Rusty needs. But apparently Fenugreek and another of the principal ingredients--Tillandsia usneoides--can cause blood glucose levels to lower, especially if used in connection with diabetes medicines, so we will have to watch Rusty carefully and possibly adjust his insulin dose to prevent hypos. In any event, I hope that the Allerplex will help him and that he will not be allergic to any of the ingredients, and that he will accept it either in his food, or in a Pill Pocket. Lots of hopes here! Fingers and paws crossed.
Rusty has a really good AMPS--back in his old range. He had a good test, shot, breakfast (first sitting) and is napping in his little bed by the radiator. He was asleep when I finished reading a chapter in my book, so I didn't wake him for a schmooze.
Wishing everyone a fine day,
Ella & Rusty
