Checkers is snippy this morning. He didn't want to be touched, brushed, combed, even stroked with soft foam.
Just as I was about to move nearby Clancy, Checks reached out and tried to attack him, which I could see coming.

When I tried to comb his little chest tangles, he touched his teeth to my wrist. Sharp teeth!

He didn't try to bite, just touch, to let me know to stop. But he was head butting, and wanted two-hand scritches on his head. He just didn't want any kind of body touching.
I guess his bupe hadn't kicked in yet.
Otherwise, he ate well, and is now on the desk next to me.

He still doesn't want to be touched, even with a soft towel to his wet head, from tub drinking.

Aw, Checks, what's the matter, sweetie? I hope the bupe kicks in soon and he's feeling better. Keep us posted, Barb....vines coming your way.

Re: 6/9 Checkers amps 280 +3/250

Awww Checks... What's the matter, baby? Huh? I think you weren't feeling good today, huh? Hope you feel better very soon, lil man. Try and have a good day, you 2.

Re: 6/9 Checkers amps 280 +3/250

Poor Checks not quite feeling pain free yet today? He loves his mama so it must be something like that.

Barb...did you see my post on yesterday's condo? I posted late.

I also saw your question about going back to Lantus. Lisa/Do Lou has switched between Lantus and lev a few times. You might look at DLs SS.

I'd also see how the bupe, given regularly, continued to help him. I do think he's been looking better.

I hope the bupe kicks in soon and Checks starts to feel better, but you know he still loves you! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Bupe is doing it's job, if that was the problem. He is back to his sweet self again. cat_pet_icon

He is quiet today, though. I'm watching for LB use, as someone had a strange bm yesterday, and Checks is the one that's been having diarrhea or loose stools lately.

Marje, I did see last night's post. I'm still considering it, as Checks has been doing better with his numbers, since feeling better.
Thank you so much for caring, and consulting with others, for Checkers.

Altho I asked Dr Dave about it last month, and he did give permission to give Checks bupe on a regular basis, I was still hesitant, because it's a controlled substance (in NY) and that alone makes me not want to 'drug' him.
But he definately needed the pain control.

I sincerely thank you and Sienne, for giving me that nudge I needed to just do it!

Hi Barb. Checkers made a nice slow slide out of the yellow zone. I hope he surfs there for awhile for you. Glad the bupe finally kicked in an he isn't in as much pain as this morning.

Have a great day Barb.

Re: 6/9 Checkers amps 280 +3/250 +5.5/172

You're welcome, Barb. Why don't we just see how he does over the next week or so with the maintenance dose of bupe?

Re: 6/9 Checkers amps 280 +3/250 +5.5/172

Hi Barb - I hope this finds you well. Sorry to be so MIA over the past few days - things have been a little hectic here.

Nice numbers today for checkers. I sure like that +5.5. I hope that the maintenance dose of bupe will help Checks. Maybe with that things will be more even for him if he feels good: less bouncing and diving. Paws crossed. Good luck too with the insulin change should you decide you want to switch.

Enjoy your day! I will hope that things are great there. :-D

I'm glad Checkers is feeling better now. I hope he surfs blue for you for a while.

Re: 6/9 Checkers amps 280 +3/250 +5.5/172

Hi Barb, I'm glad to hear how much better Checkers is feeling since being on a steady dose of bupe for his pain. That really makes sense doing it this way and getting ahead of the pain. Very nice slide today, too. Good luck on the decision of using the R.
Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday.

I spoke too soon. He doesn't feel well today. His legs seem weaker than usual. He was trembling while sitting, but it stopped when he moved. Susan had a name for that, but I don't remember what it is.

I didn't mention it this morning, because once I say it, that makes it real!
When he didn't want to be touched, this morning, he would cry out, teeth/jaw, chattering. My heart just broke at that.
He's been sleeping a lot today, even with his beloved, Auntie Susie here.

Re: 6/9 Checkers pmps 360

Sending a truck load of healing/feel better vines for Mr. Checkers. And :YMHUG: :YMHUG: for you Barb. It's hard to see our kitties like that.

Some people with acrocats have their cats on maintenance doses of bupe. Paws crossed we haven't had to go there, but that's what the IM vetty at CSU suggested if we needed it. I hope it provides some relief to my favorite gray and white cat.
