Oops, totally forgot to post yesterday, but it was pretty much more of the same anyways.

Today another nearly-off-the-meter-high preshot, ugh, but already down to low yellow by +4. Papaya looooooves the Friskies 7% carb pate even more than the lower carb Fancy Feast and would like to heartily thank those that suggested trying a little higher low-carb food to try to level out the dive/bounce cycle. She doesn't know if that part is going to work yet, but meanwhile she is licking every molecule of that so-delicious food off the edges of the plate!

At bedtime I sit on the rug in my bedroom where Papaya can see me, and hold her brush. She will get up and walk in to the rug for brushing. Last night she didn't even need to stop and rest on the way, and even stood for a bit on the rug rather than flopping down as soon as she reached it.

I am going to have a constipated kitty soon if I don't find some Metamucil. We ran out and every store I check only has the orange flavour! :? Don't know what is going on with that, but I will check a couple other places on the way home tonight.

I hope everyone had a great long weekend and that Monday isn't too much of a shock to the system ;-)

I forget sometimes.. I am so busy on the health board my own cats come in second.. ooops ;)

She sounds like a sweet girl.. but then Papayas generally are sweet :)

You could try canned pumpkin for the constipation?

Good news on Papaya feeling stronger. :-D

Some people here use Restoralax (called Mirilax in the US) for constipation, available in most pharmacy shelves. Add 1/8 tsp to water and mix into food. It draws water into the poops, so you want to make sure she's getting lots of water. You might have to play around with the quantities a bit. Some use 1/4 tsp and dial it down if that's too much. It also might be a question for your vet.

Thanks for stopping by, Wendy & Wendy!

I have been using Metamucil for a couple years, at the vet's suggestion, and always mix lots of water into her canned food. It works fine, I just ran out and it has just been sold out everywhere. I found a store brand of the same stuff today so it's all good. I did try pumpkin at the beginning - before diabetes - but Papaya does not care for veggies!

LOL have you ever tried the seeds? Peppery! I never thought of the fruit as quite such an accurate description of Papaya's temperament before - looks big & sweet but has a bite! I haven't gotten a bad bite for years now, but that's mainly because my fingers know not to make any sudden moves near the sharp end! But yes . . . mostly sweet.
