Hi Janet thanks for your reply, we have been hoping to find a regular daily dose to stick to but by the sounds of what you suggest it's almost a case of adjusting it according to each cycles pre shot bg? We obviously would hope that Lila may go into remission at some stage and at present are concerned at how quickly after some good readings her pre shot tests head up high again. The CKD was diagnosed in the months before diabetes was discovered. She is not on any other meds and CKD we think is (hopefully) not advanced.
insulins like Lantus are meant to be dosed the same amount both times a day. with vetsulin it's an in and out insulin, meaning it doesn't build up in the system, which means you can give them what they need at the time. eventually as your cat gets more regulated... meaning her numbers are more predictable and stable (similar preshot numbers) then you may find less variance in the dose. You are doing a great job getting lots of readings, which helps make her reactions to various levels more easily predicted. Your goal should be to find dose that are going to bring her down into those blue numbers. as she gets more regulated that will be easier to do, and you'll be able to get her down below the renal threshold (around 150). That's when it gives her pancreas a chance to heal.
