I sure hope the insulin shows if it is good or not soon. So frustrating. Last night could have been a small bounce as I have no idea how low he went yesterday AM cycle (but looked like he was going to drop). The good thing is NOTHING else has changed (dose, food, supplements) so this little test will be just the insulin (and the cat factor :banghead:)

The marshmallow root is very impressive. I have been giving 1/2 cap AM/PM in the PS meal. Last night he had a bit of squishy poo so I backed off the miralax today (none). Will continue with the MMR and see how it goes. It is definitely helping with the nausea (I am assuming) or possibly the stomach acid (though no throw up/white foam). He is eating with enthusiasm and has eaten all but two (I think) snacks all week (when his numbers were higher). The bonus is he loves it (and I don't have to pill him or pay for rx)! I have been putting it in all of his PS meals and preparing it just like SEB.

Woke up with a migraine - had every intention of GBTB this morning (well the couch) but decided to take meds and drink a cup of coffee (they say that caffeine helps - but I am not sure), but meds are on board and I should be good in about two hours (usually sooner), if not I will break out the big guns (prescription narco - which I hate to take).

Happy Caturday! :cat::bighug:

Hope you feel better, Lizzie. Migraines stink!

Looks like he is responding nicely to the MMR. Yeah! How expensive is it? No taste? What all is it good for? Maybe I should get some for my arsenal of supplements.

Thank you. Still with me so gotta eat something so I can take the RX. Yuck.

No taste?
No smell. I haven't tried it. Lol.

It is an alternative to SEB. So constipation, diarrhea, stomach acid, nausea. It seemed SEB raised Gizmo's BG levels so I switched.

1/2 cap in ramekin with 1-2 tablespoons HOT water and mix well (I then zap it in the microwave for 10 sec), it gets the slurry/slimy consistency as SEB and I just mix it with his food. As with SEB it inhibits absorption of other meds and supplements for appx 2 hours.

I am occasionally asked about marshmallow root. This shares some similarities with slippery elm bark and some people use it instead of slippery elm bark, but slippery elm bark is used most often on the CKD support groups, so I am more familiar with it.

Hopefully Gizmo will come down into greens and surf for you (not into shark territory, Gizmo) so that you know the insulin is working. Sending prayers that the migraine gets better soon so that you can enjoy the weekend!

I even prayed for that last night and this morning. :) I just need to have confidence in the insulin and we are in such a good place, I don't want to lose momentum, but have do know something soon as my vile is getting low and I have been using for 5 months.

That is one thing I haven't been worried about (insulin going bad) With Gizmo's high dose, we seem like we are going to go through a vial long before the 6 months. We are down to about 1/4 vial left and it's only been a little over 2 months. Lol

Have no doubts the insulin is working. Pretty confident he hit green a few times at least during the week and just 2 nights ago he was in the 50's :woot:. Glad he's feeling good and hope your migraine goes away soon.

Thanks for all this great information. It is nice to not have to consider the other meds and timing.

This is only the 2nd dose on this cartridge this time around. I started it again last night. When I started it last time (06/25) I had too many changes (food etc) and wasn't sure which was causing the higher numbers (or just the cat ) so I put the new cartridge away and got him stable and am trying it again to see what his numbers do. I need to learn to only do one change at a time:D.

+3.5=162

My gut is telling me that this cartridge is no good - what are your opinions? I really don't want to continue with it if ya'll agree.

Tonight is 3rd dose after trying it again.

This isn't his normal pattern. Very rarely lately has his +3.5 been higher than his PS.

Why are you trying a new cartridge? The old one looked fine.
I originally started this cartridge on 06/25. I also changed food around the same time (stupid, I know). I wasn't sure if it was the food or insulin or cat being a cat. I went back to the 5 month old vile that I knew was good but getting low and due to the age had switched when I was off for the week of the 4th of July to the new cartridge. Switched back to food I knew was a good LC for him and spent the past two weeks getting him to good numbers BUT... I still needed to see if the new insulin was good or not so I started back on it Friday PM cycle. This is the 1st of 5 cartridges and if they are all bad I need to get more insulin lined up soon.
