The roller coaster that is Vetsulin

Cameron has been on Vetsulin since Monday of last week (6 days now). Initially I thought 'well, everything I've read say's this isn't the best insulin for cats, but we'll try it for a while and see what happens'.

I did a curve yesterday, and it's been really nagging at me since then. Nadir was at +4, and it seems like at +8 he was basically done with the insulin. How can this rollercoaster be good or beneficial?

What does 'regulated' look like for vetsulin? Should his PS numbers be slowly lowering? I guess I just really don't 'get' regulation.

I know some cats respond well to this insulin - What does that look like?

Thanks for any insight ;)

My cats numbers are out of wack right now, but here's a link to get numbers before she came out of remission so you can see how her preshots came down and she got regulated and then into remission on vetsulin. Look at the part 1 tab. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nAInqkndqDxpngGFgmTAoSwldtpCsmWLE1GTq6iFylE

Thanks! That's really interesting, that the pancreas can just go back to working again for seemingly no reason ;)

Yeah cats pancreas can sometimes heal. My cats remission lasted a year where she didn't need shots. Another reason testing is so important.

That's so great! I'd love to see that happen for Cameron :)

I'm so annoyed with myself tonight - gave a fur shot :(
Don’t be, we’ve all been there! You can see from his ss his low point was definitely +6. I think with vetsulin it’s a good idea to just start with a low dose and increase gradually.

Cameron's seems to be much earlier than that, like +3 or +4. I'm thinking about switching insulin. I want to do an hourly curve this weekend, just to double check.
