Hunger strikes when depressed? Really?!? Maybe it's the cloudy days and cooler weather that has her feeling a bit low. Do you have a place to put a bird feeder for Nelli, so she has some 'catertainment' while you are gone and extra busy? My cat loves watching the birds (and those darn squirrels). I keep the feeders filled just for her sometimes.

OTJ is fantastic. Hope she stays there and feels good.

yYES hUnGeR strikes :eek:. This become very transparent to me, I actually figured out a behavior of hers:joyful:
You see, this is the why- bit of history on Nelli first...
Nelli is an outdoor/indoor feline. Sleeps in comfort (filled) inside at night with me :cat: :bighug:, is out (& in) starting before
tthe break of dawn until dusk.
Nelli has spent most of her life, half if not a little bit more outside- a stray. Hunted her pray- snakes, herons, mice/rats and... FISH!?!
Raccoons to this day just walk by her... ho hum (at age 20+?!).

Nelli has been allowed to be a cat for most of her life :cat: :) .

Important note: Nelli has recently become 100% blind. Disabled.
Now, reason for going on a hunger strike- Feral kitty cats and a (tragically neglected) cat who lives next door, traumatize her when she discovers they’ve invaded her and mommies turf!
When she goes out back in the morning and discovers these animals have been wandering around her turf she becomes upset, depressed and...
WONT EAT :woot:.
Because of her recently diagnosed early Stage III CKD and my continuous study of feline CKD, I have grown to understand the importance of her eating! No matter what it is CKD must eat.
Dang, she used to have me a wreck thinking CKD was advancing because she wasn’t eating :nailbiting:.
Nope, not the CKD. Depression :(.

I miss you, Nelli misses you too… my reading post responses to her, about her.

She does won't up eating late in day... and is very hungry.
When Nelli is depressed she doesn't eat. I've learned this. Takes me all day talking to her... It's ok, they are gone, etc
