I am very sorry but I dont even know what 20 represents. I'm guessing the European meters? sigh. I havent had a diabetic kitty in too many years. I hope someone here (that knows) can explain this for you. I saw you are on the Lantus forum. Are you not getting replies there? Please excuse my ignorance. :(

Yes sorry. I should not post here anymrore.I wanted to respond to your message but yes I am posting on Lantus forum and receiving advice there. I am Canadian and use Alpha Trak 2 and it is in mmol/l.

Marj, you are always welcome here, to get some moral support and encouragement. JT may not have had a diabetic cat in a long time, but she is a very sympathetic and supportive person and understands the stress you are dealing with.

Marj, it's not that you can't or shouldn't post on the Feline Health forum. The main reason you should post in the Lantus forum for dosing assistance and questions, is because there are more people that view that forum. There are more people over there, that have more experience with giving their cats Lantus. More people that will hopefully explain what might be going on with Djoko.

This is a very stressful time for everyone, and especially you. Djoko is new to diabetes and you are new to this message board. Hang in there, it does get better.

We are chronically short handed, never enough volunteers to help everyone immediately and some people are out sick with colds or the common flu. With this covid19 scare, everyone's lives have been upended, and there is even less availability for people to help out here. As people learn to deal with working from home, or need to keep working in a medical setting without the proper equipment and are scared for their own lives, or their kids are home because the schools are closed it means some major changes for everyone.

"Surreal" is the word someone used to describe what is going on in the world right now.

Ahh ok Well I was trying to give encouragement. I hope Djoko is doing well . :)
Oh no don't get me wrond. I love encouragement. I have been warned yesterday that I should not use two posts. I am super happy to receive messages and encouragement. The moderator told me about rules yesterday and this is why I wrote that.
I am disappointed because Djoko was at 5.7 PS and now he is already at 14.3 I do not like him spending the night hyper :S.
Sorry JT & Trouble!

We're not quite so rule bound over here in Feline Health, Except we don't want threads to get too long, because it's harder to read through everything, especially when it goes to a second page. That second page might be missed, so shorter threads are better.

But if you think about how many people post in the Lantus forum daily, you'll understand why they look for a specific title in the thread post, and like to see a new post every day and a link to the old post from the day before at the top.

With 30-40 active posts a day, it takes time to open each one and read it. So the people helping over there, can't do that. Instead, what they do is prioritize. They quickly scan the board, looking at the thread titles. A cat with low numbers, and they can see that in the title of the post, gets their attention first. Then maybe look for questions or cats in special circumstances that someone is keeping a close eye on. Like a recent DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) or HL (hepatic lipidosis) or ketones or pancreatitis, or something else of concern.

So, the format of the title thread is:
Date, cat name, PS cycle (AM or PM) then any comment after that in the title if you have a question. There is also the ? (question mark) prefix you can put on your title. So for example,

? 3/16 Djoko AMPS 167 +8 164 PMPS 108 LOW number, STALLING HELP

As the day goes on and you get more tests that day, you update the thread title with the + test numbers.

Does that help you a little bit Marj?

p.s. Personally, I spend very little time over in the Lantus forum. I'm trying to help all the newer members here in Feline Health plus the members in the ISG's for Prozinc and Caninsulin/Vetsulin. There simply is not enough time in a day to look at all the forums and all the posts.

Absolutely NO problem. When I was new to this board I was a complete mess. Didnt even know how to use a computer! (lol thats how long its been since Trouble was diagnosed:eek:) I know how this health board gets overwhelmed and sometimes just a kind word speaks volumes! This I know how to do. :p
