Pabay had a huge bounce yesterday evening 33.9 mmol. Today he is poorly and readings are in the twenties. I have read that bounces can last 3 days in dogs. Does anyone know how long they can last in a cat?

Hi, bounces can certainly last up to a few days in a cat... I can't spot where Pabay's bounce may have been triggered, but there are some gaps in the BG data on 19th/20th Aug, and it may have happened during that period.

Sorry to hear that he's feeling poorly. Is he eating OK? And have you been able to check his pee for ketones? (You can get Ketostix, or equivalent, from most pharmacies. Anything above a 'trace' ketone reading is a reason to talk to your vet ASAP).

...I think your dose is very possibly too high... It should have been reduced back in June after the steep drop in blood glucose and going into hypo range on June 2nd.... Or maybe it was reduced for a while, but there is just no record of that on the SS...?

Elizabeth, Many thanks for your informed view. I think you could be right re: the dose. I gave him 2.5 units this am. The vet thinks it could be insulin resistance. Pabay is eating well (was sick last night but ate again well within 30 mins). I haven't checked his urine for ketones: I have the strips and will get a sample. Waiting to hear from the vet now. We are hoping to go on glargine late september.....
