Yesterday - still looking for an expert in bowel disease and diabetes in the NY/NJ area.

His numbers seem to be coming down! We haven't hit blues yet but I hope we will today. Based on the sheet, does anyone have thoughts as to what times we may be missing?

Fortune seems a bit skinnier, grooming less again. I'm nervous that the pred increase is exacerbating the FD, so we decided to scale back the dose until we can consult with the internist on Sunday (first visit). Hoping we can get an RX for budesonide.

We also picked up new food (Small Batch Raw) to try and will be sampling it tonight to see how it goes! Right now he finishes about 85 - 90% of his serving with FF chicken, and eats more like 60%-70% of the rabbit foods we have been trying. We need to transition, but I'm worried about him losing more weight. So paws crossed he loves the new food and licks the bowl clean!!

He still isn't purring and it makes me so sad :( I hope it's not because he is in pain. Poor bunny.

I hope he likes the new food. Ordinarily we transition slowly but with a novel protein switch it’s not a good idea. Has he had any issues when you try new foods? Max didn’t. My girls haven’t either so far.

I'm glad the internist visit isn't too far away. Even if they aren't great at diabetes, we can help you with that part.

Good luck with the reduced pred. Could you make a note on the Remarks part of the SS on the day you reduced the pred dose? It's good to keep track of changes in meds as they can impact BG and good to keep them in mind when looking at insulin dosing.

Budesonide can come in either pills, or compounded liquid. I found the liquid both easier to give, and easier to change the dose when I needed to. The pills are so tiny and crumble easily if you need a partial dose. I called them budesonide bits.

I don't see ondansetron on your list of meds. Is that something you have around? Worth talking to the internist if you don't. I found at one point Neko needed both Cerenia and ondansetron to get her over a rough patch. The two drugs target different nausea receptors.

Nothing notable/noticeably different. I had forgotten that you switch to novel without slow change. With raw it may be a little different since he hasn't had it in forever - hopefully he wolfs it down!

Yes, thank you for the suggestion!

It isn't - I will definitely be asking for it. I have learned that ondansetron is more for nausea, vs cerenia for vomiting. I hope it will help him eat more, since he is so interested in food, just can't finish.

Thank you both!!:bighug:

Oh my goodness, exciting update. Fortune DEVOURED the Small Batch Raw food!! We gave him two nuggets, but he polished his food and wanted more so we gave him another two!

We added some room temp water per @tiffmaxee and despite defrosting over almost 36 hours it still had some frozen flakes so we are going to try and take it out 15 min before feeding. Thank you so much for the recommendation!!!

Definitely want to try and get the ondansetron and see if it can help him.

quick follow up, it has been 6 cycles since the missed dose and he is still in the 200s. Do you think it's time to increase dose to 2.75?

Tonight will be the sixth dose, so see what he does tonight before increase. If nothing below mid blues, you could increase in the AM.

Thank you! We will to get at least +3 tonight - do you think that's sufficient? I don't want to rush him if it's too soon.

Which protein did you get?

With TR, you increase every 6-10 cycles if seeing nadirs under 200. And every 6 cycles if above 200. So far it's mostly above 200.

Hi Rachel! I saw you over on the small cell lymphoma group and read that you mentioned an excellent FD group... and here you are. At this point, I am mostly just lurking on that group, apart from a general question now and then for Dr. Jory, since I no longer have a small cell lymphoma kitty and I also just very recently lost my precious IBD kitty. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and that I am rooting for you and Fortune!
