? Question about gabapentin

Hi— does anyone know how this could affect glucose numbers? I know that Walter sometimes goes from a very low to very high numbers but this seems to be exceptionally high(536 from 122 earlier). He was put on this painkiller because he has arthritis. Thanks!

I’m not sure if gabapentin can cause BG fluctuations, specifically. It makes sense that BG could be higher if a kitty is in pain (stress).

Cosmo has pretty bad arthritis with bone spurs and he takes Cartrophen - which does not have pain killing properties, but aims to lubricate the joints. Was there consideration to this instead of going the pain medication route?

I can only tell you what I've seen. Butters has taken gabapentin and from what I've seen it hasn't affected her numbers but pain has caused her numbers to go up.

Thanks— no but I’ll check it out. He’s also been taking Omega 3 oil which doesn’t seem to affect the numbers.
