Still have questions about how the best way to flatten him out. I’m not sure feeding the higher carb early in the cycle is going to do it yet. Still working with that one, but after looking at other SS I’ve also wondered if his dose is slightly too high? Or not, and instead needs a slight increase to help the bounce not be so high? Or would short acting insulin R bring down the bounce so that I am not starting with a very high number and maybe the cycle would flatten out a little faster? I am completely confused and have no idea. I have been going by the nadirs as I’m supposed to, and I know that’s the right thing to do, but I just feel like there has to be something that would work better. He has an extremely complex medical history and no two cats are the same, I realize that. I also know treating diabetes in cats is not the same as treating people (cats much more difficult in my experience), especially a cat with acromegaly. I am not experienced enough to figure it all out yet. I just think something needs tweaking with the insulin, whether it’s adding R for the high bounces or an adjustment in his Lev…I don’t know. I’m being patient, because I have to be…but I’m still wondering if there’s something else I am missing to help Max.
