Well yesterday was certainly a wild ride. ;)A low a.m. nice green cycle :D, which caused the Libre to fail in the afternoon while I was out at an appointment:arghh:.

That was not fun, but I had a feeling it could happen and it did.
Got home to immediately replace the sensor and got back up and running, and she finally came up. Of course she coasted in yellows all night long and will have to come back down again.

At least I’m home to monitor today, but I don’t expect a wild ride as she needs to recover from that nice green cycle in 80s on the handheld meter yesterday.

Wishing everyone a calm day, I know I sure need one. :bighug::cat::bighug:

Good morning Staci.

Of course, the wild ride had to happen when you have things going on!
Hope you got your hair done and are happy with the results!:)
You have been busy with people coming and working at the house, as well as dental and hair.
You did a marvelous job managing everything! So many things on your plate!
I hope you get a little break today and enjoy the day for yourself!

Hi Kit, it’s been a lot of stuff this past week. You’re right. I know you understand. Thank you for the kind words. It’s appreciated:)

I think the hair thing worked out. I’ll know better as I see how long the keratin treatment lasts. But I lived a 5 minute commute to the salon (I never even knew that this place existed until I started researching a new one. I’ve been traveling 30 minutes to my prior salon.) ;)

Working today and have to somehow fit in making some of her food, so no rest will be had. Another busy day ahead. But at least I’ll be home and don’t have to leave the house, so that’s a win right there. :)
Wishing you and your crew a calm and happy day:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am definitely an introvert who liked staying home before Kit's diagnosis, and now I have a legit excuse that no one can question. Oh, you wanna go do this thing where there are lots of people. Oh, man, I wish I could, but Kit's numbers are just too low right now. Sorry! Maybe I'll send Eric! (Numbers not actually low usually sorry not sorry)

Funny! Does Eric mind being sent to represent?
My DH doesn’t like going alone when I tell him to just go because I can’t. Oh well (it’s usually his family stuff that I’d rather not go anyway). Shhhhh.

Neither of us really like going anywhere. And being told to not go anywhere during the pandemic lock down made us even more not want to go anywhere now. I have fewer friends here, because I'm not from here, and I'm not good at making friends (it's hard as an adult!), so most social activities would be with his friends, so he's fine if he gets sent alone. And I go see my friends without him a lot so he can stay home and recharge by himself. It all works out. :)

Active cycle again today. Feeding hourly. At +6 now and reaching nadir I believe.

Question: do you feel that if you have to feed hourly through an active cycle it’s too much insulin? (I’m starting to feel that it is too much for a Ivy if I have to prop her up hourly or more frequently for an entire cycle with at least 11% carbs, when I normally feed her 6%, which does absolutely nothing to boost her up).

I understand, Alicia. And it is hard as an adult to find new friends.
It’s good that you both are happy with your arrangement in being home or one of you going out with each of your friends, plus Kit is happy with someone home with her :)

Ohhhhh Staci! I have pictures in my mind, you are running home with wet hair and in the hairdresser gown, install the sensor and run back again. Was it like that? This sounds so stressful but I am glad everything turned out well for Ivy and hopefully also for your hair. And again I see so much green today. It is really interesting because one would think she would finally go a little higher after a few days on the reduced dose. Maybe her pancreas is doing a better job now? And I hope that after this active day you can enjoy a calm night in you bed! :bighug::cat::bighug:

Thank you for asking that question Staci! I was wondering the same and of course I am too new to have an answer for this. But maybe the experts will give an opinion!

It was exactly like that, Heike. I practically ran out of there. Was home in 5 minutes and ran right to Ivy’s room and got to work. The Libre was installed within 1/2 hour of getting home. I was laser focused. And of course I had the 1 hour countdown to wait to see if it worked (hold my breath every time).

I’m actually thinking of giving a decrease since every active cycle I am just propping her up with higher carbs than I’d like the entire cycle.
I want to see what she does without me having to feed her constantly. (I get the +1,2,3 hour snacks). But this goes on the entire cycle, so it feels like it’s too much insulin for her.
(Plus I think she’s gaining weight from all the added calories).

I may give a reduced dose tonight and see how she does on 4 units.
Wish me luck. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh wow! I forgot that damn hour waiting time! I am sure the new hairdresser will not forget you, this is quite a story!

Yes, feeding high carb several times a day and gaining weight also sounds counterintuitive to me. I also try to find a dose where Binie is safe with only low carb. She needs to loose weight. But things are complex so let's hear what the experts say. Hope you will get an answer on your question! :bighug::cat::bighug:

Pmps 100 Libre.

Busy day feeding her hourly to try to coast and stop dropping each hour.
Reduced dose to 4 units. Will see how this shakes out.
Hopeful she continues to see decent numbers without having to constantly prop her up way past mid cycle /nadir times.
Stay tuned

Hi Staci, I see Ivy was on the move again. I hope the reduction works out and she still continues to see nice numbers .
Feeding her hourly has to be a lot to keep her propped up .
Sending Ivy good vibes . :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Hi Diane, she was a busy girl again today. Thanks for your support. I hope this works, too. She’s not thrilled with so many snacks either.
I hope you and Tyler are doing well :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci
A very nice cycle for Ivy today. I hope she does good on this reduced dose tonight. And continues to do well tomorrow and the day after and so on.

Just like Heike mentioned above, I can also picture you running back home to Ivy with the hairdresser cape still on and hair in rollers for some reason

Hopefully you will like your keratin treatment and the new salon with this convenient location.

Wishing you and Ivy a peaceful night :cat::bighug::cat:
