Good morning, and now we are bouncing from some lower numbers last night earlier in the pm cycle.
I stayed on the sofa overnight because it looked like she was gonna stay low. Eventually I just fell asleep as I didn’t have the energy to go up to my bedroom. Oh well. :blackeye:
She did give me some cuddles and kneads with long purrs. She likes to sleep on the pillow next to me for about 10 minutes at a time (never too long) :bighug:

Planning a nice long walk today if she cooperates and out to dinner tonight. Will feed her some higher carbs at dinner.
Hope everyone has a safe day, enjoy the weekend :cat:

Hi Staci,
Sorry you had to sleep on the sofa last night although the cuddly time with Ivy sounds so sweet. And her sleeping by your pillow ❤️
She is just so happy to have her momma there with her!

I hope both of our girls come down gently today. Enjoy your long walk (Ivy, be good ;)) and dinner this evening.
Wishing you a lovely peaceful day, Staci :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Kit, thank you for your empathy. I appreciate it. If I have to sleep on the sofa, at least my reward is lots of good loving from my sweet girl.
I hope both girls do come down to some stable, yet lower numbers today. And definitely no limes:stop:

Hope you guys are having a great day and everyone is feeling well in your household :bighug::kiss::bighug:

Hi Staci,

I answer your yesterdays reply here to not bump the old thread up again:

I’m sure the extra carbs helped Ivy stay stable last night plus she just happened to be in a cycle where she wasn’t going too low. It’s always a relief when that happens because sometimes when we go out and she’s low to begin with, it’s a very stressful night for me worrying about her.

Oh dear, I know these situations so well. Trying to act normal and to interact with the people around but in my mind I am occupied with thoughts and worries about Binie all the time. Like a zombie. No fun at all and so stressful. You said most of the time your son is at home. Means you could direct him to do what you would do? I know he couldn't poke her but feeding would be o.k., isn't it? He could give her enough carbs, the libre doesn't show LOW so you know she is in high numbers, even though that might not be how you do it being at home? Just an idea. But I'm sure you went through all the possibilities already.

I'm sorry you had another night on the sofa. Glad Ivy knows she should pay back with love, purrs and biscuits! :)

Seems like you can walk today without any worry. Hope you have a good time! I also did an afternoon walk through the autumn fields. Trying to keep my sanity.

Hope you have a nice evening! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, I know you I understand very well this distracted time of being out in the world while worrying about our kitty at home.

Yes, my son does try to be at home if we go out just in case there’s a problem.
Unfortunately, though she will not allow him to come close to her. Yes he can put food out, but there’s no way he could let’s say syringe feed her or do anything where he would have to touch her.
She would bite and scratch him. She’s just very aggressive for some reason with him.

It’s such a shame because he adores her, but she will not allow him to come close. It’s all her rules so we have to work within what the princess will allow :banghead:

We did get out to take a nice walk today. It was beautiful out. I was even wearing shorts and a T-shirt, which was great. I’m trying to enjoy the beautiful weather while we still have it.
I’m glad to hear you were able to get outside too today.
I try to find ways to get outside as much as possible since we are at home so much taking care of our sweet kitties.
I hope you’re having a relaxing weekend and I hope Binie is feeling good :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,

I am so sorry, Ivy is giving your son such a hard time! Did you ever ask a cat behavior specialist about it? It is so strange because I remember you wrote, she liked your son, before he went to college. Did he ever try to prep his clothes with feliway? Our vet has these feliway blankets and Binie loves them.

I just thought maybe you could give him some addictive high carb treats she would eat for sure, so he has a tool which is working to stirr her up without the need to syringe feed or somehow manipulate her. Maybe these treats are not the most healthy option but than you would know there is a plan b which is working for sure. But again - I am sure you thought it over and over already... just my ideas on it...

Wow, shorts and T-shirt sounds nice, here I had to wear a light jacket. Yes, we should leave the house and catch some air. I didn't do it enough the last weeks but I promised myself to do it every day now. We are not under house arrest and we shouldn't feel so. :)

Enjoy your weekend! :kiss::kiss::kiss:

Hi Staci , I hope you were able to get your walk in today and you will be able to go out to dinner tonight. I hope Ivy slides down a little for you today :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:
Hi Diane, we did take a lovely walk in the sunshine today. It was a perfect afternoon. Felt great to get out!
Ivy must be bouncing after a little dip last night. At least I can get out for a nice dinner.
Hope you are having a nice weekend. And I hope you’re feeling well. How’s the PT going?
Sending you hugs from me and Ivy :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, thanks for the good ideas of the carb treats. I have to think about that. But I like the idea!!
It’s been so long that she’s not nice to my son I forget when she was a young girl who used to love him :arghh:
I haven’t consulted anyone recently about it. Frankly I don’t have the energy with all that’s going on.
I did have a behaviorist come to the house in 2018 to help us. At the time Ivy was lashing out at all of us. Me too.
A big take away was that DH was playing with her too rough (like a dog) and the vet told him to stop that (same as I had told him but he didn’t listen to me)

Once he changed his behavior she calmed down.
I’m sure there were other points we discussed but I can’t recall much else at this point. Sigh.
;)

I’m sure we tried other things for my son but nothing else really helped. I do keep a Feliway diffuser in her room. Not sure it does much but I use it anyway just in case.

So your points are right on target, Heike :)
I appreciate your thoughtful ideas. I’m always open to any and all suggestions!!
Hope you are sleeping soundly now and Binie, too :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,

arghhh... I know these problems which can come from playing too rough. I think I mentioned that Binie lived with my neigbors for her first three years and especially the guy was also playing quite rough with her. And I can imagine it was kind of sweet, when this little kitten clawed herself into his arms and bite him because it didn't hurt much. Unfortunately she didn't stop when she grew older and stronger and it took me many years to be playful with her without getting bitten. And I understand very well, that it is hard to put energy in this on top of all the other things which are going on with Ivy. I'm sure I would feel the same. Hopefully your son and Ivy find a way together.

The treats: I know you wouldn't like to give it because it really levels up but if you are away and your son needs a secret weapon, it's pill pockets. They are created to be ultimately tempting and they have lots of carbs, I think the Royal Canin ones are around 50 %. Just one or two could help to get her out of low, if you are away. Colleen @SmallestSparrow knows what I am talking about. :)

I hope you have a relaxed sunday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
