Good morning,

Yesterday’s post:
https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...-amps-313-5-268-pmps-296.295929/#post-3222556

It was my girlfriend and I’s anniversary yesterday and she got me the perfect card. I forgot which member said their cat was into Cheetos…

Nice AMPS today, our lowest yet.

@Bandit's Mom Bhooma can you update my SS for human meter?

Since you are using the human meter now, you’ll see a little bit of lower numbers generally speaking from the AT3. Good luck with the increase. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see blues today.

The AT timed out fast too actually. Tonight we tried Vaseline for the first time and that seemed to help get a nicer bead from the prick.
I guess because I started on a human meter (for ketones while on Bexacat) it just seemed like more time. I was so used to racing the Precision Xtra timer that the first few AT tests I got errors for putting the blood on too early :D

Ohhh yea, I know what you mean. I did like on the AT I could put the strip in like 3/4 of the way and then when I was ready just bump it in…

The Precision Xtra... that meter needs soooo much blood. Are you still using it? The store on Amazon I was using for a long time stop selling the strips, I ended up switching to a different one because the Precision strips are like $3-$4 each retail. I ended buying the KetoSense meter, it's pretty good and the strips are not too expensive.

Recently, I found THIS, which I think is the first animal ketone tester: https://www.aconlabs.com/brands/centrivet/gk-blood-glucose-ketone-monitoring-system/

I went with Xtra bc it was the one used by my vet and many vets/pet ERs here and in papers published. BUT the price is painful; i order from Abbott. I got irritated at their tech support (off shored and just read a script answer and too often wrong…although after playing the MD card a few times and giving bad reviews on surveys I could get an engineer).
Anyway yes, I actually have the centrivet sitting on my table; I ordered it after Abbott refused to troubleshoot an issue because it was a cat. Had to order from a dairy supply company, apparently one checks ketones often on cows. I haven’t started using it yet bc Methos has been so bouncy that I’m testing a lot and didn’t want to be juggling THREE meters (because I want to run it and the xtra at same time to build my confidence in results). Like the xtra it can run glucose or ketone strips BUT the instructions say you have to leave the coding chip in the meter so that would seem to say either I’d need two meters or I’d have to switch chips with each test. I’m annoyed that my request for clarification has gone unanswered. Since I’m running out of Abbott strips I was just telling myself this am to try one more time but that I’d need to start using it regardless. The centrivet strips come in a vial like Alpha Trak and are priced about the same as AT. This is sort of a negative for me as I dropped a nearly full vial of AT strips while closing the cap and the strips ended up all over the floor—and I’m not sure if that could have contaminated them so that was a hit to the wallet.

By the time I was needing to test regularly for glucose (so got the AT) the Xtra had trained me to speed and it felt like it took FOREVER for the AT to be ready for blood. If I’m not testing ketones I push the strip in first before getting out the 2x2, uncapping the lancet etc…and still find myself waiting before I can poke

If I’m doing ketones I start them both, do ketones and while it’s counting down do glucose. Sometimes the two meters beep “finished” simultaneously. :) I’d make a joke here but this is a G rated forum
