Gooood morning! :coffee: Happy Friday! :)

I took the day off, Kona and I are hitting the road here in a couple hours. Our drive is about 3 hours and we will be gone until Monday. To get everything situated between Cleo staying at home and all the things I need for Kona, loading up the truck it takes me about two hours. I'm not looking forward to it, ha ha. I think about it all the time, when the cats are gone, how it's going to be so weird not having to do all these things to care for them. We're going on 2 years with Kona, I don't even remember what my life was like and the feeling of being able to just up and go whenever without any worry. Yesterday I went out for drinks with some coworkers and of course, had to leave early to get home by 6:30pm to Kona for her shot. Life will be so weird when I'm not doing this any longer. I love my cats with all my heart, but man... I don't know if I want to roll the dice again by having another pet that has special needs that ends up controlling my lifestyle. That sounds bad and selfish, but it's something I think about a lot. What am I going to do when my cats are gone...

Anyway... here we go for today, big drop at the +3. I thought for sure with the +1 it was going to be a higher day, but she had a nice little surprise for me. Never fails, when I don't test as much or forgo a single test I think I can get away with not doing, she goes and dives.

Morning Cycle
6:17am - AMPS 287
6:18am - Fed 3oz of TruLuxe Pretty in Pink (0.5% carbs)
7:32am (+1) - BG 295
9:26am (+3) - BG 189

Have a very safe trip, Jason. As we know, it’s quite a journey and a lot of work and you are an incredible and committed cat dad.
I have so much respect for your commitment and dedication to your girls.

I hear what you’re saying about the future but, cross that bridge when we come to it.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and safe travels with your sweet Kona :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I want to get to better numbers, but she's still dropping faster than I'd like... I gave her a snack.

Thanks, Staci. You're right! I need to take one day at a time.

Jason, I hear that… I think about the future too, how different things will be. But I’ve been trying to limit those thoughts recently. The time we have now with the cats is so precious.

Have a safe trip, Jason. Come on, Kona, level out for Dad.

Thanks, Marielle.. should be a chill drive, maybe some snow, but we'll be good.

Thanks, Tim! No doubt... I gotta enjoy the time no matter what, diabetes and all.

mmm before i respond right quick she gets carbsnacks/food?.. :bookworm::coffee: she doesnt follow low carb diet? wut she eating? :cat:

Hey @kitten68, moving this over to my today's thread. Yes, she is on a low carb diet, but depending on what's going on, her diet might consist of med or high carbs depending on what's needed. Also, I'm not home sometimes so that makes things a little more complicated as well. Kona is kind of a bouncy kitty and is also a picky eater, so the food (and their carb levels) changes all the time. Including snacks.. they can be 3% or up to 23% depending on how I'm trying to influence the curve.

I document exactly what foods (including their carb levels) and how much I give her in all my posts. Sometimes it's right, but a lot of the time it's a guessing game.

I also have two cats in the house, so it's really challenging to do the method of breaking up her meals every two hours or whatever some people have luck with. If I did that, she'd have to be quarantined because her sister would push her out the way and eat her food. She's ruthless.

PMPS was a 110
+1 was 74, so I gave her a tsp of 23%.

I had to leave her for a dinner. :nailbiting:

I loaded up the automatic feeder for +2, +2.5, +3, +3.5 all with 23% carbs. This should be sufficient, if not overkill.

Fed Cleo remotely… she’s now staring down at me into the camera. :p

Got back from dinner, +2.5 was a 60 and she didn’t eat the snack that had dispensed and was sitting for about 10 minutes, which was super worrisome. As soon as I pet her and put the feeder to her, she ate it. Glad we didn’t stay out late.

Tomorrow night I’m going out again, if she is around 100 or lower, I’m definitely going to give her a 20% or more full dinner.

She’s only been to this place once, several years ago, so I don’t think she remembers it and is scared.

Keep those kitties safe out there! :D
