Hi all,

Was just wondering what you all do if you need to be away from home? Do you always have a cat sitter if you're away? Or if you get to a point where your cat's BG levels are more regulated and predictable are you okay with leaving your cats at home? I was able to work from home last week but this week I'll be going to work more. Evie is still not regulated her BG levels range between 150-HI. I haven't seen her drop to dangerous levels yet, but I suppose that is always a risk..

I live alone and on my second diabetic. Technically my first diabetic was when I still lived at home post college but no one would have anything to do with his diabetes so it was all on me. My first cat was never quite regulated and my current is still a work in progress.

I have always worked full time, usually away for at least 10 hours a day. I leave a small snack out in a timed feeder for my diabetic to eat when hungry. I have never come back home to a hypoglycemic cat but I suppose that is always a possibility. I've been fortunate enough with my jobs to be able to schedule my work hours around my cat. I get to work early and leave by mid afternoon so I can get home in time for dinner and insulin. I don't travel for vacation or business reasons. Basically I'm a hermit :p I do have friends who can give insulin injections and meds if I can't be home for dinner for some reason or another.
