@Bandit's Mom Bhooma Bailie is sick he won’t eat anything his mouth is sore .I had him to the vet yesterday and they saw inflammation in the mouth but he has been eating his food weirdly for the last couple of months ,dropping food and such and tilting his head while eating .The vet didn’t see any mass so he gave him antibiotics and anti inflammatory but this morning he won’t even eat a churu.i don’t know what to do as far as the insulin is concerned. I’m so scared I don’t want to lose him .He only had a dental exactly 1 year ago .if he doesn’t eat I can’t give insulin.What do I do ?

Did the vet not think a dental was required? Were xrays taken to see if any teeth are badly off and need to be extracted?

Do you have any pain meds? Meloxicam, gabapentin or buprenorphine?

He's not going to eat if he is in pain.

He is high enough. Please give him half a dose at least?

So you don’t think he will go to low because he won’t eat ? No they didn’t do X-rays they should have . Why would he have pain if he had a dental done last year? Is it possible he has reabsorption? I do have MetacamWhich he prescribed for him, but I can’t give it to him if he doesn’t eat? And I also have buprenorphine here, but he didn’t prescribe that one.

He freaks out if I open his mouth to give the medication

Yes. Maybe he has some resorption or some other issue. Did the vet say what's causing the inflammation? Which antibiotic was prescribed?

Why would he have resorption he had a dental 12 months ago ? Can it come on that fast ? And the antibiotic is Antirobe 25mg every 12 hours . Also metacam every 24 hours. he wouldn’t eat anything at all so I had to give him Friskies gravy and he ate probably about 4 tablespoons of that. I had no other choice. He has to have something in his stomach for the anti-inflammatory. Is that OK? I really don’t have much choice I need him to eat.

Also I only gave him 1.25 units just because I was so scared in case he went too low, which he probably won’t but him not eating I was too scared to give him anymore

Thank you so much . I’m hoping he will feel better soon but I have to feed what I can even if it’s high carb and I’m not sure what’s going to happen as far as his diabetes goes . But I have to get him through this hump.
