3/4 | Jude: AMPS 165; +7.5 77; PMPS 92; +2 87; +4.5 90

Surely he was green just before that +5 yesterday :D
Don't you know it! He made up for it at his PMPS, though. We're seeing some higher numbers at the end of the cycles. I'm taking him to the vet today for another urinalysis to ensure the recent round of antibiotics knocked out the UTI. Jude is prone to them for some reason (luckily, no crystals).

I took Jude to the vet today, and his UTI is still present. The doctor said it wasn't as bad as it was the last time (dx 2/11), but present, nonetheless. We are giving him another round of Clavamox, since it worked the last time, but didn't quite knock things out. I took him into the vets because his numbers just seemed a bit erratic and not as flat as they had been being, and I was right with my suspicions.

As Jude is getting older, he frequently has UTIs (thankfully, no crystals). The doctor mentioned Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (Pandora's Syndrome), which I'm reading about now. I see there is a group on FB, and I'll join it for guidance. I give Jude d-Mannose, with no problem, and I've tried giving him cornsilk extract, but he's a hard pass on that because of its taste. The doctor mentioned treating Jude's bladder inflammation but said many of the drugs that combat inflammation are steroids, so we can't use those. He also mentioned some natural supplements such as cranberry extract, etc., but he isn't sure about the sugar content.

Does anyone have suggestions for treating FIC in diabetic cats.

You should change the title to idiopathic cystitis, I imagine a lot more people know it by that. Neko's buddy had it, was diagnosed one week after she got her diabetes diagnosis. Sigh!

What worked for us was a diet change to low carb and low phosphorus with lots of water added. In my case it was raw but didn't need to be. The raw was the vet's suggestion and they both loved it. The FF might be too high in phosphorus. I also gave him something to help the bladder wall (Cosequin) and put Feliways in the house. Skitty kitties tend to be more prone to FIC, and he was a semi-feral, and the Feliway calmed him down. I also had other meds that he gave when he was undergoing an episode (Cerenia for anti inflammatory properties, Cartrophen for the bladder wall), but once I got the diet right, he never had another episode. Later on I added hyaluronic acid (brand Hyaflex) to also help the bladder wall on an ongoing basis.

@Angela & Cleo also has experience with FIC. Cleo is prone to episodes of FIC. Here is an old post of hers:

Like Wendy suggested, "treatment" is low phosphorus canned food + hydration, stress management (Feliway diffusers/collars), pain meds for when there are episodes (can be very painful) and glucosamine to strengthen the bladder wall. Antibiotics don't help.

Thanks, Bhooma. He has bacteria in his urine, so wouldn't antibiotics be necessary?

Was the urine sample free catch or cystocentesis?

Maybe you need a different antibiotic or a longer course if there is indeed a persistent UTI?
It was a cystocentesis. The vet is building on the previous course of ABs. The infection is present, but it is not as bad as it was last month, so it's clear the AB is working. The FLUT group advised that I go ahead and get the culture test, even though the AB is apparently working, so I'm going to get that ordered tomorrow. But he definitely has bacteria present.
