Nice start today!

Talked with the vet last night and got the go ahead for Zyrtec. They’re pushing for the Solensia injections for his arthritis, but I’m not ready for that yet (so new, horror stories, Adequan as an option).

I’ve got a bunch of smaller stuff I’m going to try while I continue to research, like moving the humidifier and Feliway closer to his chair, up the Cosequin dose, and a different FF flavor.

Have a great day! - Tim

Good Job doing all the research and looking for the best answers for your sweet Pookey. You’re an awesome cat dad and Pookey is certainly living the benefit of all of your hard work.
Hope you both have a wonderful day. Keep up the great care :cat::bighug:

Aww thanks Staci, that’s nice to hear. As we all do, just want their time here to be the best it can be :bighug:

Looking good Pookey! Looks like he may be off insulin altogether soon! Great job! What is the zyrtec for? Allergies? or as an appetite stimulant? Solensia scares me as well. I tried it for my cat Sophie who has arthritis. Only did 3 doses I think and I just stopped it. I was worried it might make her early stage CKD worse. It did help tho. So all we do now is Super Snouts Green Lipped Muscle. She can still jump, but her arthritis is very noticeable. Ive tried adequan in the past. It worked really well for another cat. I havent looked into it for Sohphie, not sure why. None of the vets even mention it.

Hi Tim! You take such good care of Pookey! He's such a lucky boy.
In terms of his next reduction (OTJ), do you have to wait seven days from the last blue he experienced? How is it going measuring the drop? Has that gotten easier?
Also, love the new profile pic! What a handsome boy!

Thanks Jo! Zyrtec for suspected allergies, yea. He’s itchy and over-grooming mainly his arms and belly. Adequan isn’t FDA approved in cats which is probably why they don’t mention it, but I hear good things…

If you don’t mind me asking, how does Sophie do getting around just on the supplement?

Thanks Mary :bighug: that’s a good question. The info on the OTJ trial is a little vague, so I was going to see what people thought tomorrow which will be the 7th day. I’m leaning towards giving it a go even with those blues, unless he surprises me between now and then…

If I were to do the drop dose over again I’d use different syringes, but I’m too far into it now to switch and potentially change the dose if you know what I mean.

Pookey is lucky to have you advocating for him and doing all the research! One step at a time.

Safe surfing today! The drop is looking good so far :D
Thanks Briana, that’s great advice. In today’s world we’re so used to getting everything instantaneously which makes it tough. One step at a time :bighug:

Sophie seems to get around just fine and can jump up just fine. She doesnt actually jump off of the couch however, she sort of eases down, like slides off till her feet touch the ground. I had xrays done a while back and it showed some arthritis in her elbows I think. She walks sort of bow-legged and stiff.

That’s okay as long as she’s still getting around! I just worry about the pain aspect because they’re so good at hiding it. Pookey does similar stuff, avoids high jumps takes stairs slow.

What a beautiful cycle again. But of course not surprising. I also love Pookey’s new profile pic. Such a handsome boy.
And you're such a great dad to him.
Good luck with your research. I'm sure you'll figure all this out.:bookworm: :cat::cat:

Thanks Karolina, I feel the same about Nestle’s cycles! Appreciate your kind words and support :bighug:

Hi Tim, I'm glad you got the ok from the vet about the Zyrtec . I really hope it helps. I'm not experienced enough to give dosing advice but I think you would be able to start OTJ Trial even with those low blues and then when you tested again after them the BG's were green . Let's see what the experienced members say after tomorrow's cycles :D:D:D

Thanks Diane! I hope so too on both fronts. He’s been such a good sport. Have a good night :bighug:
