? Scary Night - BG 58 @ +2 after PM dose

Glad you made it over here. I see today’s AM +3 was 81 even after the reduced dose and a snack. Given the BG went below 90, I believe that would warrant another dose reduction per SLGS. @Suzanne & Darcy can hopefully confirm before the PM shot, as well as how much to reduce.

Did you get more tests after the 81?

Yes. He had his scheduled snack at +4. Test at +5 = 84.
I know this is considered normal on some charts, but isn't being in 'blue' better?

I should add that Unc has gained back some body fat and no longer looks ill. His water drinking is back to normal, but his urine output is still pretty large. His appetite is good, hard to tell now if it's the diabetes or just him being greedy. He's always been food-motivated.

No, being in blue is not better. What we would like to see is a “sea of green” on his spreadsheet! Not lime green of course. Remember that normal cat BG is between 50 and 120 (human meter) with the majority of the time being spent in green numbers and few blues. since the AT is a little different we use 68 as the reduction point though. His cycle today is FABULOUS! Unfortunately, you are following SLGS so you might want to consider following MPM. We can see how it goes with reducing at 90 for now.

Welp, Charlie's PMPS was back up a little bit to 341. Does that mean a bounce? Or an adjustment back up?
I would just stay with the 3 units for tonight. I think it would be a good idea. We can’t tell if it’s a true bounce or not because we will only know that if he stays high for a while.) Yesterday morning he started out pink after a period of low numbers during the night, but he still got down into blue. Let’s just see if we can get some stability. We will know soon if he needs to go back up in dose.

Okie dokie. 👍

I will be interested in seeing Uncle Charlie’s AMPS this morning.

Tell me how Uncle Charlie got his name?

Good Mornin'

Unc had a very nice AMPS of 197. :)

His name. I've always kind of let my pets name themselves based on expression and demeanor. Charlie was a friendly stray. He and his siblings(?) were looked after by the neighborhood collective. I'm sure he has had many names; my next-door neighbor was calling him 'Big Boss'. Once he chose me and fully came inside, it became clear he was a Charlie; the Uncle part came later as he aged and got crustier and grumpier.

I like the name Charlie for a cat. I’ve had a few. Crusty and grumpy reminds me of Uncle Charlie on the old 1960s era television show “My Three Sons”. I see it occasionally is shown on some of the cable channels that show old television series. Now that Uncle Charlie was crusty and grumpy, but with a heart of gold.
