Shock this morning. Tigers BG higher than been for a long time at 346.

Had another fairly active night. Can't seem to settle very well.
Fairly quiet at the moment too and inactive.

Can't tell you the shock of seeing his 10.00 am reading was down to 213. Was it a misreading this am? Who knows.
Still pretty lethargic, but glad to see it down.

I give his insulin at 8.00 am and pm. Bed time is 10.00 so will take a reading then as well. Missed last nights. He doesn't like testing much, but tolerates it bless him.

Tiger is eating well. Only a few dry bits now. Drinking ok. Using the tray. Stools normal.
Purring and now and again wants his belly rubbed. Don't think anyone would see except myself that he is not himself. Trouble is it being Winter and Tiger not doing snow or cold at all here in the wilds of the Canadian Prairies, he is not getting the exercise he does in the Spring/Summer.

Re: 02/02 Tiger AMPS 346 Help!

It's ok here - but just gonna remind u - at least one or two spotchecks in the evening will help determine what Tiger was up to last nite.

I'd be very curious what that is, try ok, at least one before bedtime would be a good start! Most kitties do get a little lower in the evening cycle.

Will u be around this morning to grab one for this cycle?

Yes, I'll be taking a couple of checks in next few hours.

Re: 02/02 Tiger AMPS 346 Help!

Hi Peter,
What are the times of Tiger's shots, like 7 am and pm? If you can't stay up later than 9pm, or the +2 time, would it be at all possible for you to set an alarm, get up a couple hours early to test, then go back to bed?

There are many kitties who have lower numbers in the evenings, and if we could see what kind of numbers Tiger is getting in the evenings, it would likely explain why you see higher numbers at amps. It could be that Tiger is going lower at nite while you are sleeping and then bouncing higher by morning. Without any numbers, it's really tough to say how come.

While we may not like Tiger's wakeup number, let's hope some good tests through the day will show him coming down nicely, and with a few more tests in the evening, we should have a better idea of Tiger's pattern in his numbers.

Scratches for Tiger and hope your day goes well too.

Re: 02/02 Tiger AMPS 346 Help!

Morning Peter :-D
Good job with linking yesterday's condo in your first post.... SS in signature is good and all is looking great here!
You did a very good job of testing during the daytime cycle yesterday! :thumbup
will you be able to get alternating hours today such as a +3 and a +5 maybe? Maybe a +9 or 10?

After the PM shots, the night cycle is important...as was said, some kitties go lower in the night cycle. Once you determine which
hour appears to be Tiger's nadir, you will probably see a corresponding low number at the same hour in the night time.

(For my own two kitties, I have gotten in the habit of setting an alarm for a +8during the night. (4am.) I have gotten used to waking, testing Shadow and feeding them both a snack. That is a lot for some people I know...but it is what some of us have learned to do. I do not want to overwhelm you at this time, but just know that the testing at night is very important too....if you can get a check before you go to bed....that is really a very important time for an important reading....)

It is the habit of our kitties to experience a wide range of numbers at times. We all get concerned when they get higher, but it is to be expected. If they get a very low number, the reaction of the liver is to dump hormones into the kitty and very high numbers result for a time. That is a bounce. If Tiger went down to a lower than regular number for himself during the night, he might have a higher number as a reaction to that. The more data you collect, the better you will be able to see Tiger's reaction.

This is the beginning of the 4th day on this dose. You are still collecting important data. You are doing GREAT!

You can return to you condo during the day and post updates and any questions you may have....good job!!! :-D
BTW, how is Tiger eating lately? Still a bit of dry added? If so, that is another reason for the pink number. Just to reiterate that.

And how is he acting..you said he is quiet and inactive...is he using the litter box regularly? Is he purring...and how is he during testing? All those things add up to the general picture of how our kitty is....it's not only about the numbers themselves. We sometimes see ketones in the urine...had you ever tested for them? And sometimes a hairball that is trying to be expelled gives higher numbers for a time too...all those things are added to our WCR whole cat report....all are important....
I will be quiet now...
