Good morning,
Did not post for a while again, always so many things happening !! I'm sure I missed a lot but I want to send prayers to Jill @Jill & Scooter for little Scooter! :bighug:

Ti-Mousse started the year at 8.5u and since then he had many days with greens and limes, so he earned reductions. He is now on 6.5u! He had a vet visit and belly x-rays which did not show anything special but a lot of fat…. he needs to lose 7 lbs. :woot: I want to switch him to raw; I ordered the FoodFurLife pre-mix sample which I should get this week. I wish to be able to switch all kitties to this new diet !!! Hopefully they will like it!

OT
Brother-in-law from France flew back home yesterday! He was here since 3 weeks so very busy…. He’s very nice but he doesn’t care too much for cats and looks for cats hair before sitting down... imagine when cats jump on the kitchen counter or the table!! Now I have to catch up with all the things I had to put aside.

Our new recue is sweet, pacific and very affectionate! He is 1 ½ yr, big tall long-haired cat 14 lbs, muscular and HUGE furry paws.. he reminds me a lot of a main coon I had. He’s quite brilliant… he managed to remove the cover of a can I had left on the counter! He asks for the door when he sees the neighbors’ cats waiting for him on the deck; it’s cute to see the 4 of them leaving together! He’s full of matts and he bites at brushing time; I will take him to a good grooming salon! My kitties are starting to get used to him slowly. Here’s a pic showing his stitches after surgery.

Have a great week everybody!

he needs to lose 7 lbs

That's a LOT of extra weight. Each excess pound on a cat is equal to approximately 15 pounds on an average adult woman  It's great you plan to get that excess weight off!

Why does it matter if my cat is overweight?
Feline obesity is associated with many diseases, diabetes, skin disease, & arthritis/joint pain. Overweight pets have more risks if they need anesthesia.Studies have shown that being overweight increases inflammation throughout the body & we are just learning about the large number of health problems that can be associated with chronic inflammation.

FoodFurLife pre-mix sample
Briere Fur Mom has some E Z complete she doesn't need. PM her about it.
I tried both products & my cats didn't like either  Remember to start off with just a pinch to see how they do. Increase it very gradually. Good luck !

Oh Lyane bless you for taking Peanut in to your home, he looks like such a beautiful
fluffy boy and a big kitty. Don't feel bad Tyler weighs 19 lbs, used to weigh 23 then got diabetes down to 18 lbs. Now 19. He doesn't over eat, just a big blob lol. He doesn't really play that much other than once and awhile when he chases his brother Perry. My vet says he just isn't burning calories. I have to keep trying to get some weight off him, he is a big cat but 19 lbs is too much. Maybe I can get him a tread mill lol
Good luck with all your kitties

Lyane, you are just the best! peanut is so lucky to have found you!!

Peanut looks like such a handsome kitty I hope you’ll post a pic of him when he’s all healed up, I love orange tabbys :):cat:

I’m happy to hear the positive report about Ti-Mousse! He looks so good in greens :D and a nice start at the beach for him this morning

LOL about your BIL he would be driving himself crazy looking for every single cat hair. My biggest one I’m a little embarrassed about is how I let my cats on the counters and tables. It doesn’t bother me at all (unless I’m cooking at which time they aren’t allowed up ) but my mom and grandmother find it really gross so I try to keep them down when they visit.

Are you still watching your grandson too? You’re so busy!!

Really happy to hear from you Lyane! Thanks for the update!:joyful:

A 14 lb Peanut....... Doesn't sound like a peanut.

Glad everyone is getting along. Sounds like Peanuts friends found him and you have a few more to look after.
:joyful: a BIG peanut.... !! Nowadays with the GMO you never know what peanuts will look like !! :p
His friends have collars and for sure they have a home; they all look well groomed except for Peanut right now!

I know how bad overweight is, but it's not easy to have them lose weight; he's hungry, stares at me begging for food. Maybe canned food is not giving him what he needs and that's why he's hungry and eats a lot; raw might be what he needs ! I am also hoping that he will start playing with Peanut; that would give him some exercise!

Thank you for the info from Briere on EZComplete!

Ti-Mousse is 19 lbs also !! Your tread mill is quite a good idea, or maybe a big running wheel!:)

Good luck with the new diet. I found that raw seemed somehow more satisfying than canned. You give smaller quantities than you do of the canned too.

Peanut looks like a sweetie. Love the fluffy ones.

As per the vet Peanut has a lot of Maine Coon; it's then I learned that orange tabby was just a color and that you could have orange Maine Coons! Always learning..
My cats are living in my house, it's their home and people coming over are just visitors!! So when I have people who don't like cats, it's always hard for me! :(
My grandson was over one day last week; this was such a pleasant day!

I was watching Mowgli, he's having GREENS almost every day and he's below 1u... how nice !! You're really doing good with his dosing Amanda!!:)

Can't wait to start the new food!
I only had short hair except for a Maine Coon many years ago. So I have to get back to brushing.

It's nice to see you Lyane :bighug:. My goodness, you do have a lot going on! Peanut sounds fabulous, he is a lucky boy to have found you. Good luck with the food transition. Now...Ti, please behave yourself, you can swim in shallow end of the lagoon now and then, no need to jump right into the deep end all the time

We had to have civvie Gus shaved last August because of awful mats. He lost 1 pound of hair! It is now mostly grown back in. (Gus is predominantly Norwegian Forest Cat, I think). Rusty (Maine Coon mix) used to get bad mats, too, but I was always able to pick them apart and comb them out. Good luck with Peanut. Gus doesn't like combing or brushing, so we had to have him sedated when the vet tech shaved him.
