Hi there! Moses and I are doing pretty good, seems like we're back on track today :-D He still seems a little spooked by eating near his old eating spot, but I'm sweet to him and he's getting more and more courageous. Scaredy kitty!

Now for injections, I sit him in my mom's lap, where she hugs and rubs him. He loooves this, he's always been a lap cat. And that is the best time to shoot. But! I won't always have her lap...

*Question for those who have kitties with food/injection associations - What's your regular spot to inject? Is it still something the kitty loves and can be distracted by? I'd like to know :-D :-D :-D for future routine! Thanks!

Hi, Erica -- Can't really help with that, because we put Kitty on a table to inject. When we put him in our lap, he seemed to feel it more, and he had better ability to make a getaway! But we ALWAYS give him a treat when he's on the table, so he likes it there. At least that's what his purrs say! :-D

Hi Erica,

we used a little desk for the longest time, until about two months ago, I finally got the confidence to shoot him where he ended up, I even began shooting him while he was eating, but at that point he was use to the shots.

Often times you will hear kitties seem to "know" that the injection is good for them, and they come to you to get their shot or ear poked.

Really it does get easier and more comfortable. That's not to say it will take you a few months, everyone has their own way, so just be patient with yourself, be calm (that is so hard at the beginning for some!) and remember you are doing this to help Moses feel better and get healthier.

:)

Nice yellow! Your spreadsheet says you are planning to do a curve tomorrow, is that right? I'm looking forward to seeing more of Moses' mid-cycle numbers, and then we can see if Moses is ready for a dose change.

I wish you luck with the shot issue, you'll figure something out. I never had a problem, I shot Lucy while her head was buried in the food dish and she never seemed to care. For testing, I always tested in the bathroom - at first I started that because someone suggested to me that if I always did it in one room, at least then she would know that was the only room in the house where she would get poked (and would feel "safe" everywhere else). It turns out she loved her testing (um, treats) time so much that she STILL runs to the bathroom and starts talking and spinning in circles every time I go into my bedroom. Cats do love routine, so whatever you do, if you try to do it the same every time I bet Moses will learn to enjoy the time.

Libby, this made me laugh so hard! I thought Moses would do the same, but he is a finicky boy. He's scared of the front door and one time I knocked during his mid-bite and he froze, tongue hanging out, food off his chin for a good couple seconds, like this

I can't stop thinking about Bo and Mike... and hope he sleeps well tonight. I'm looking forward to Moses' curve tomorrow and having a day off from work. We'll see what happens!
