Morris seems quite mellow this morning as compared to last night! haha_smiley He enjoyed his EVO/Friskies mixed dinner & snacks last night.....he ate all of his +2 and +5, and the majority of his +8 snacks. All P's seem to be in order for him.

Yesterday, Brenda brought up the suggestion of Morris possibly needing a dosecrease since we haven't seen much green or blue lately. Sienne was hoping that I would be able to get more night time spot checks in - that is only somewhat possible on weekends. Sienne was also thinking that someone with more experience would be by to make a suggestion. Since no one else offered any suggestions yesterday, I thought I would put the dosecrease question back in my subject line again today & see what people think.

Going to agree with Sienne on the spotchecks, the +1 and +1.5 won't tell u much, is that your bedtime? Anyone else in the family up later than you that you can pay off to do a spotcheck? Money makes people do almost anything!
Let's see if you get some feedback today on your question, but I have a feeling they may ask for a bit more checks. Hang in there Gwen!

Re: 1/14 Morris AMPS 310 - dosecrease?

Morris looks as if generally he will have quite a drop every 2-3 days.

It looks as if he needs a smidge more.
Is there any chance your in a position to set your alarm and get up for a +4 and +6? It looks as if he drops in the night, but no way of knowing by how much.

Seeing as it's Friday tomorrow, you could wait to increase until tomorrow night knowing your going to be home. I'd be erring towards a F1.75u,rather than a full .25u (night sc's could really fill some gaps-you can go straight back to bed  )

See what others think.

ps-sometimes you have to go back up to come back down again so don't be disheartened if that's bothering you.

Re: 1/14 Morris AMPS 310 - dosecrease?

this is a tough call because it looks like morris is seeing more action at night... like many lantus/lev kitties.
he throws some beautiful low blue morning preshot numbers. these ps numbers have to make one wonder if he went lower at night and is on his way up at amps. the only way to know for sure is to get some random sleep tests/spot checks...

Yes, that is when I try to get to bed. I give insulin at 7:30am/pm. I have tried everything & at this time there is no one else willing to help out with testing or even just giving insulin. So, when I need to go out of town for 1 night next month, I have booked a room for Morris to have a weekend get-away as well! He will be spending 2 nights (so I can have a sleep in day for a change!) at this wonderful kennel in town that does BG testing & gives insulin.

Actually, if we need to go up, that does not bother me. It is the not knowing what the 'magic' answer is that bothers me! LOL!

Maybe I will try doing some fat 1.75 units & see what that brings. Also, since I have a sleep disorder, it is not as easy as it sounds for me to get up, test & head right back to bed -- I sure wish it was though!

Re: 1/14 Morris AMPS 310 - dosecrease?

Sorry about the sleep disorder Gwen, but can't emphasise enough how important those night sc's could be in helping you find that magic number :-D

I'm not saying do it every night, but right now would really help in terms of guiding you one way or another in terms of dose.

I know how it feels to be the only one to shoot and test, but I bet you've got a closer relationship because of it ;-)

Re: 1/14 Morris AMPS 310; PMPS 151

He has gone from blue AMPS, to all pink day & night, and now to blue PMPS! What a crazy cat!

Today, he did not even touch his +2 snack! This evening, when I went to check him for PMPS, I could tell that I recently missed 1 of his P's! I am liking this clumping litter this time around....sure can tell how much is coming out of him! LOL! (The last time I tried clumping litter was just before he was diagnosed.....didn't like those clumps!)

Re: 1/14 Morris AMPS 310; PMPS 151; +1 158; +2 117

No food spike after dinner & now dropping good! After this test, he went & ate up all of his +2 snack. I will do my best to get up in time to get a +11 reading in the morning!

I am working early today, so I will be running out the door right after AMPS & insulin is given. I will post those results once I get to work (SHHHH!)
