Ouch! 358 is our highest in a very long time. No real changes to anything, other than giving him 3mg of mythel b 12 last night. He has been off it for a week, since the panceatitis episode. His B12 was off the charts. Vet told me go every other day but I took him off it completely and was going to start every other day starting yesterday. May rethink that strategy.

Re: 1/21 Slashy AMPS 358 Ouch!

Maybe he had some serious green yesterday during the day. Just a guess.

and I'll 3rd it. A 145 is a good springboard for going green.

Re: 1/21 Slashy AMPS 358 Ouch! - Theories

Hello All.. Could be a bounce but take a look at his SS http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key= ... haXc&hl=en

I was able to get consistent numbers from 1/16-19. His AMPS ranged those days from 154. With the one exception where he went yellow he has been consistently in the blue.

The day he went yellow it was suggested that it was due to dosecrease from 5 to 4 units. (see SS) Another possibility is the night before was our last dose of pain killer from the pancreatitis. We got another script of pain killers in time for pmps on 1/18. He spent the next day in the blue.

Another thought for the jump.. on our way to work Sue and I were discussing anythign that could be different from one day to the next. There were two things.
1) I have him the first mythel B12 since he was diagnost w/ pancreatitis last night. I was told high level of B12 could have played a part in his pancreatitis episode (he has been on mythel B12 for a while for neuropathy.. we started on it when we started home testing and went cold turkey on dry food in mid Oct) His legs are much improved.
2) After dinner last night Sue gave him a couple small peices of pork chop with some fat.

Look forward to your thoughts!

Thank you all.

Numbers change day to day. That is why we ask you to please try to get spot checks on every cycle

Is he still on pain killers? does he seem like he's recovered from the pancreatitis attack?

what brand of Mythel B12 is he on? (I've never had to use it before, so I just want to look it up and read about it)

I know it is not enough, but I get as many checks as I am capable of.

He is still on pain killers. Have enough for a few more days. It does seem like he is recovered. Hungry, grouchy at med time. We have a follow up appt w/ Vet on Saturday.

No, but was sauteed in olive oil and wine.

oh dear...no more pork chops for Slashy...I just googled it, cuz I'm pretty certain I've heard this before, grapes are/can be toxic for cats and dogs
lots of links out there on this, but here is one for now.

Not sure the connection between pork chops & grapes?

Duhhhh. I am sorry, hectic day. Brain not firing. However, couldnt have been much wine on a couple bites of pork chop. No more, none the less.

Re: 1/21 Slashy AMPS 358 Ouch! - theories?

The methyl B-12 may be the culprit. It contains maltodextrose and fructose -- both sugars.

I use a different brand: Methyl b-12. It contains rice flour but no sugars.

The levels in them are minimal. I used the same brand without issue. ECID, though.
