Re: 1/28 Deb's Spot PM +4 ~ 103
hahahaha you two are funny! Wish I knew you guys were here in my condo so much, I would have joined in the party!!!
Yep, CD, Spot sure is doing so much better these days, compared to when he was on N. I can remember how my stomach used to turn when he got those red numbers, especially when the meter read HI cuz I knew that he was well over 500.
And, yep those PL (Pittsburgh Ladies) were really brutal at that first get together. When I left there that night, I was like, afraid to go home and give Spot his dose of N just in case one of them had followed me home!! Seriously, though, I am glad that I decided to go to that get to. I got a lot of good information from the PL, and I knew that Lev had to be the thing since they were all singing it's praises. I had been thinking about switching insulins, but with me being one of those dedicated people (aka, person who does not do change very well), I wanted to do everything possible to see if the N would work before I switched. (I get that from my line of work, you know....make little changes to see if the behavior we are trying to get rid of goes away. If one thing doesn't work, we make little changes) However, after that day, I did more reading and research and made several trips to the vet to talk to her about the different insulins. Although she had no experience with Lev or Lantus, she read my print outs, did her own research and made calls to other vets, and when I finally decided that I wanted to go with Lev, she was more than happy to learn with me. I really did want to include my vet in my decisions since she is the one who has been seeing Spot the longest and she is the one who will be treating him. It may have taken me 7 months to make the change, and I do wish that I would have make the switch earlier, but now, with my experience, I can talk to other folks who may be using N and have the data to show how much better Lev is than N. There is a reason for everything you know!!
Now, let's talk about this +3 number of 103....Mr. Spot decided to eat some peas and some sauteed mushrooms about an hour ago. I was making Turkey Tetrazzini and had the turkey, peas, and mushrooms sitting on the kitchen counter while the noodles were cooking. I was sitting at the dining room table, writing out my bills, looked up, and there he was, just enjoying the buffet. You would think that he never eats. Oh well, what cha gonna do??? Sometimes you just have to go off your diet, sez spot.
Well, time for nini...gonna do some apps in FB and then head off to bed. have a good nite ladies!!
