Logan's tube looks normal today. It looked like it had pulled out last night, but we're thinking it may have been the angle - he was kind of stretched out when we cleaned the tube area. Today, it looks flush with his skin again and he's been acting fine. He even woke us up at 3:30 and ate 3/4 can of FF. He's had a decent day so far.

He's eaten every few hours since we've tested him every few hours today. In total, he's eaten 1 1/2 cans of FF on his own (about 140 calories) plus he's had two tube feedings (1/3 can of a/d each for a total of 120 calories). We've been giving him 360 calories a day. We were hoping to skip the night feeding tonight, but I think he'll need the calories.

Hope everyone had a great day. We've been inside all day. We have quite a bit of snow on the ground and it just started up again! We rarely get snow in Charlotte, so this is pretty cool.

whew, I'm glad Logan is doing better today, and eating, and that the tube is ok.

I just talked to my parents, who live in Gastonia, and they said there is ice on top of the snow, so might as well snuggle up with the kitty and a good movie tonight.

Your parents live in Gatonia? Small world. Yeah, we had some ice earlier today so we have snow, ice and now snow. A good night to stay in for sure!

Awsome report on Logan.
That is terrific that he ate that much on his own. I hear the healing at work.
Keep it up Logan! The eating, not the numbers.

Such a relief when he eats so much on his own.

We had snow here today, too, but that's not unusual for southern PA. I saw on the news this morning that NC was getting some snow, I didn't realize Charlotte was getting it. Hope you don't have to drive in it if you're not used to it.

Hi Kelly,
Just perused Dr Lisa's site very quickly and found the following
at least 15 calories per pound per day. This number is figured on lean body weight, not fat weight.

If your cat weighs 18 pounds but really should weigh 12 pounds, please make sure that he is consuming at least ~180 calories per day. (12 pounds lean body mass X 15 calories/pound/day = ~180 calories/day)

If you have a small female cat that should only weigh 9 pounds, please make sure that she is consuming at least 135 calories per day.

So... if we use 15 cal/lb of ideal weight, I am SURE Logan is eating more than enough. Good for him!!
Glad to hear the tube looks "normal" today.

Just wanted to pop in and see how Logan's tube was doing today. Glad to hear that it looks normal. I went through the same thing with Max that sometimes it would look like it was pulling out. The way I would gauge it was to check the stitching on the outside. If the stitches looked pulled then I knew it had moved. It sounds like a good day in your house today and that is great news to hear.

My in-laws live just north of Greensboro, NC and they said they got hammered with snow today.

Glad Logan is eating more and more on his own....that is so good. Hope you guys have a nice warm
snuggly night tongiht....sounds cold outside....

Lynee, he has a PEG tube so it's not stitched on the outside...I guess it's stitched on the inside somehow. I'm still a little worried about it, but it looks ok today and he hasn't acted like it was bothering him. The ER vet did say that he would act like he was uncomfortable and most likely wouldn't want to eat much on his own. So, I think it's ok! I'll be so happy to get this thing out of him. I think he'll feel better, too. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be!

I've only lived in NC for about 4 years, but this is the most snow I've seen so far. I just wish this would happen on a weekday so work would get cancelled! I hate TBP!!!! But, I must keep working...lots of vet bills!
