Only one test strip left, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting new supplies in tomorrow (Friday at the latest). Thank God for Hocks.com. The local pharmacies want $70 for a box of 50 test strips!

Roo continues to act like Roo. His appetite is good, he has not thrown up since taking him off dry food and vetsulin, and at least once a day he yells at the fish in the fish tank for not letting him catch them.

I have found a new pet-sitter whom I have hired to come over the two mornings a week that I have the long commute, so his shot times are now 8:30am and 8:30pm. A much saner arrangement. Only thing is, I will rarely be doing evening spot checks because I am almost never awake past 9pm, at least during this time of year when it gets dark by 4:30pm. By 9pm it feels like midnight.

I'll start doing spot-testing again as soon as I get the strips. By the way, is there any reason to not re-use lancets if you sterilize them in rubbing alcohol?

Love the new smilies. cat(2)_steam

Those slippery fish...

I reuse Magnolia's lancets, but never for more than 3 days. I think that if you are sterilizing them, it's ok. But that's just my opinion on it.

Lancets are not very expensive. Prob the least expensive supply for our diabetic kitties.
And I highly recommend not re-using them, as it can added extra irritation to the ears, not to mention possible infection.

Good to see u posting Blueroo :)

Dear Deb and of course Roo -
so glad to see your post! And so glad to hear Roo is eating so well and uh....keeping an eye on the fish! ;-)

JOe and I are looking forward to seeing your boy in February!

it's good to hear roo is eating well! happy to hear you'll be getting more strips soon. as soon as you're able to get more tests we'll have a better idea what the dose is doing. in the mean time, please make sure roo has plenty of food available to nibble on to feed his curve in case he's going lower than we know, k?

LOL @ Roo and the fish! That has to be fun to watch!

Lancets - Honestly, I've tried to reuse them after sterilizing and it still did seriously irritate Sasha's ears more than using a fresh one each time. (and I was only using them 2-3 times) They dull very quickly and it's a good way to turn a kitty off from being tested easily. Just my thoughts.
