Rico has been in remission since May 2024 and he's always been ranging between 65-94.
During full symptoms of gingivitis and loss of apetite (which started 8 days ago) he ranged 85-194. However, after our visit to the vet and his treatment his glucose started raising above 200!
The vet told me not to worry and to wait for the antibiotics and cortizone effects to wear off before we run new tests on his pancreas and glucose levels.

What do you advise???

Cortizone is a steroid so not surprising it raises the numbers. Did the vet say how long it should take for the effect to wear off? I'd keep testing for a couple days and see if the numbers keep rising. You may need a short course of insulin, but too early to tell.

It will take up to 5 days but I just tested him now and he's gone up to 307! He's actually gone from 90 to 300 in a couple of days! What do you mean by a "short course?"

By short course it means I hope it's a short period of time. This isn't a predictable length of time. If you want to see just one example, this is George's SS. His vet gave him a steroid shot when he was OTJ, without the caregivers approval. Steroid shots last longer than the effect you will get from a cream.

If he's over 300 in the morning, I think you could start a small dose of insulin provided you can monitor closely. Do you still have some Lantus around?

I do have a pen of Lantus! I will test his AMPS in 30'. If he is over 300, how much insulin should I start him with?
