Magellan is really beginning to get on my nerves I can deal with his bouncy games. But what I have issue with is his continual insistence on inappropriate litter box manners. I until early today had no hard prof that it was magellan but I caught him at it red pawed. I have 3 litter boxes for 4 cats, before magellan came back to live with me both my girls where happy with 1 box to share. Im at my whits end any ideas on why he is acting out now??? I understand the lakes of pee in the boxes.. but stepping into a cold puddle in the early am is not my idea of good times. On the good side I have found a new single source treat. vital essentials .. he really loves the minnows treats. Put me off at first as all they are is dried lil fishes... am fur shot

Hi Julia, I usually see recommendations to have one lb for each cat plus a spare - so that would be 5 lb for you. I know a lot of kitties that object to using a lb that’s already been used once. Did the 3 lb all have some offerings?

Another thought, when mum’s diabetic was having some peeing issues she found that if she left the shower door open he would go in there. Sounds a bit gross on first thoughts but much better than the wet feet alternative and very easy to clean up. It turned out to be very convenient.

Really Magellan, that’s not a nice thing to do to the bean!

Hello Vyktor's mom.. the 4 of them are all eating the same thing As for litter boxes my two girls share and have been sharing all there lives.. all 2 1/2 of them for morganna and 3 for khalessi. Magellan and his sister have shared litter boxes again all their lives and this December he will be 18 years

I know how you feel. Since Phoenix developed diabetes, he has been peeing outside his litter box as well. I have stepped in it numerous times.

However, I am grateful to have my cat and one day I will wish that I had puddles to step in. I enjoy every day that I spend with my cat. He has a health problem that is causing him to pee. This has greatly improved since his BG is dropping.

I noticed that your cat has been diabetic for a long time so I apologize for my previous post. I have volunteered with animals most of my adult life. Here is how we stop bad behavior. Get a spray bottle and fill it with white vinegar. White vinegar will not stain carpet. Put the setting to stream. Whenever you catch your cat peeing where he is not supposed to, squirt him with the vinegar. Aim for his body and not his head.

The smell of the vinegar will linger on his fur and he will not like the taste when he licks it. It is not dangerous for him. After just a few days, he will get the message. You will only have to point the spray bottle at him for him to stop and run. This breaks the bad habit fast. Only use the vinegar when you catch him peeing not if you just find a puddle. He has to connect the vinegar to his peeing. It is called vinegar training and is used on all sorts of animals. It works and fast !!!
