Good morning,

Yesterday’s post:
https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...228-5-209-pmps-257-4-203.296318/#post-3226035

Initial data from monitoring Pookey’s food intake is a little interesting. Yesterday’s AM cycle he had a total of 200 calories. Then the overnight cycle he had 230 calories.

That’s a lot of food even for how big he is. Maybe this is propping up his numbers and we could see a nice natural decrease by going to wet, and less overall. We’ll see how today goes.

Have a good one! - Tim

When I got Bella (or I should say when she chose us to be her family :bighug:), she was obese. I tried to make her lose weight but that was hard, and the sitter would feed her way too much when we were gone in the summer, so she took it all back and more every time. She finally lost weight when she started being diabetic, and after that I really tried, I counted calories and started making her run (she will do anything for food!). It worked, now she is not even overweight, but it took over a year. It's been very worth it, though: she had arthristis, she could not stand on her back legs even to climb on something, she was in pain, and now she jumps (and steals food ) and stands on her legs like a little mongoose, and no more pain. And good numbers, too.
So all that to say, good luck and it's worth it!

Aw that’s so awesome about Bella being more active when she’s lighter. Yea we’ll get Pookey right, I’m hopeful :)

I think Pookey is having too much food. He’s up a little over a pound in weight this week. Total caloric intake today between AMPS and PMPS was 220. Puts him on pace for over 400 a day.

I think I’m going to shoot for a target of 300 calories, which is 3 cans of FF pates per day.

I was going to ask what his current weight is, but I see it on your SS. Pookey’s a husky boy . I feed Mav and the civvie each about 2 1/2 - 3 cans, so you’re in the ballpark. If you want him to lose a little weight, maybe shave off 1/2 can.

I generally like this calorie calculator as a guideline since it takes into consideration resting energy requirements.

Thanks Christie! I’ll check it out. How much does Mav weigh these days, still around 5.5kg?
