After changing shot location from the scruff to further back we are getting lower series of numbers. However some strange ones to. His numbers drop after eating his pre shot meal. Like right now, it’s shot time and his sensor is showing error because he is dropping fast. It was 307 before food and in fifteen minutes went down to 247 and was falling. It’s been doing this the last couple of days. Last night we had unusually lower numbers for him.

is this from changing locations for his shot? Also, vet changed libre today and once again their reading was about 40 lower than the libre.

Hope everyone has a great night!

Some people here have reported a difference from changing shot locations. So it could be that.

Not sure how much of this is the Libre wonkiness. And to some extent meter variance?

In bounce clearing cycles, some cats can nadir as late as +13. So you don't see a food bump after the preshot meal, but you could actually see a drop in numbers even before onset of the next shot.

This quote in particular
  • The first 12-24 hours of any sensor may be inaccurate so you will want to do a backup test with a glucometer if possible. The reason for this is that the insertion creates a small wound and the body’s immune system reacts to that wound. That reaction can alter the glucose levels slightly. The general trend should still be accurate.
Regardless, looks like Tiger needs an increase. He hasn't been under 150 for a long time. I'd like to see him getting to blues every day.

Hi Deb, per Wendy’s post above and how a Libre may be slightly inaccurate the first day…in order to avoid that as a precautionary measure, I install the Libre at day 12 on Ivy. But I don’t activate it until day 13 for that reason. I give her body a day to “heal” and “marinate” the new Libre.
Then all I do is scan the Libre when I want to activate it and then remove the old one while the new one is warming up, or any convenient time.

(This may not work for you if you are having the vet remove the old one. Or, you could learn how to remove it yourself. I’m not sure what you do in that regard.).

The reason I only use the Libre for 13 days is I was having some wonkiness on day 14, so I just let it run for 13 days (if I’m lucky enough to get a full run on one Libre).
As you may know, sometimes Ivy has those very low cycles which cause the Libre to fail for me, so I have that going on sometimes too).
So much to consider.

Hugs to you and sweet Tiger. I hope he sees more blues

Hi Deb,

sounds like location matter. But as he is still in safe numbers, might be good you found out. I also know these strange drops on a new libre. Hope it becomes more stable the next days after the libre callibrated.

Hope you have a beautiful day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
