It's great to hear about Logan doing so well with the food and having a good sized appetite. Little appetite makes me worry.

Will you be having the tube removed soon?
I am asking for Logan :-D

The vet said she won't remove until he's been eating on his own (completely) for two weeks. So, if all goes well, maybe 2 weeks from now?! Keeping our paws crossed.

Logan ate 7/8 of a can this morning. He wasn't happy when we had to clean the tube area! Poor kid. Not sure why his AMPS is so high. :(

Two weeks? that will be a nice Valentine Day gift for ALL of you....Logan...did you hear that?
Hope you all have a good day!

Re: 2/1 Logan AMPS 337

Good morning Kelly. Just wanted to pop in quick and see how Logan was doing with eating. Sounds like he's all lined up to have that tube removed in about two weeks.

Just from my experience (and of course ECID), Max didn't start eating completely on his own until his tube was out. But of course he pulled it out himself and as soon as he did he went right to the food bowl and started gobbling food down. While his tube was in he would nibble a little bit but wouldn't actually sit right down and eat entirely. He also wouldn't eat much regular food with the tube in but he would eagerly lap up the liquid mixture that I would put into the syringe to feed him. That was really how I got him to start eating. Not sure if maybe the chunkiness of the food was bothering him going down and the liquid mixture went down easier.

Re: 2/1 Logan AMPS 337

Max had an e-tube, right, Lynee? Logan has the PEG tube and it hasn't seemed to slow him down eating-wise the last couple of days. DH2B said he ate 1 1/8 can of FF on his own at lunch time - about 107 calories. So, he's had about 190 calories on his own so far today. He didn't get his morning or mid-day tube feeding. We'll see how he eats tonight, but I'm hopeful we'll skip the night-time tube feeding, as well.

DH2B did not test his BG, but said he'll get a test later this afternoon. He's working from home today since doggy daycare was closed - they close when the schools close. Since the one dog has severe separation anxiety, they can't be left alone all day while we're at work. Working from home is not an option for me! :(

Re: 2/1 Logan AMPS 337

WOW! This is such wonderful news Kelly!!!!!!!
I wish I could be there in person to see how great Logan must be lookin'
Didnt he start eating much better all of a sudden right after the incident of running away in the middle of a feeding? maybe that was his sign...IM DONE WITH THIS CR*P!!! cat(2)_steam

I look forward to hearing of the days getting better and better!
Your love and dedication sure seems to show a great pay off!

Re: 2/1 Logan AMPS 337

That is great news for Logan.
Eating on their own is so important. ONce he yakes more on his own and less
tube feeding myabe we will see some numbers drop.
Who knows how "stressed" he is with the process he goes through tube feeding
These babies are smarter than us.
Counting down these 2 weeks for a wonderful Valentine's present from Mr. Logan!

Re: 2/1 Logan AMPS 337

Oh Kelly, I'm so tickled to read that Logan is eating so good today. Looking like he might just get that out in two weeks. What a fabulous Valentines present that would be :-D

Yes Max had an e-tube in and it did hinder his eating abilities. I keep forgetting that Logan has the PEG tube - so sorry.

Logan ate really well today:

AMPS: 7/8 can
Lunch: 1 1/8 can
+10 Snack: 1 can
PMPS: 3/8 can
+3 snack: 5/8 can

Grand total: 4 cans, for a total of 380 calories!

And, he will most likely wake me up at some point tonight for a little snackus. I'm letting him eat as much as he wants. He's still unregulated so he's not getting the full benefit of his calories. He could stand to put on a little bit of weight, anyway. His back end is a little puny looking.

Off to bed now. Everyone have a great night! I'm hoping that we at least have a 'delayed opening' tomorrow morning 'cause of the freezing rain headed our way. Lots of schools closed yet again...oh to be a kid again!
