Thank you. I am worried about Ivy. I have been reading through yesterday’s and today’s threads and I am worried about her and sending my very best love and hopes for you and Ivy. You must be so tired and worried and trying so hard to help her and make a difference in how she is feeling.
I really appreciate your message and trying to have Daphne stop by for her thoughts.
Yes, it’s been quite a week and I hope I can help my sweet girl feel better.
Very exhausted over here but it’s ok. Just need to do what I can to help Ivy.

Is there something you are seeing that I may be missing here?

She’s not anemic is she? I don’t see it in her bloodwork. Her kidney values don’t look that bad either. Her USG isn’t bad. And they don’t think it’s pancreatitis, right? It sounds like the vet has no clue.

Has she been using the litter box this afternoon/evening?
No, no litter box tonight. The vet said that it probably could take some time for her to poop because she pooped Out Yesterday and the day before what was inside and she’s eating less than normal.
As for the Pee, she said it was very concentrated when she peed at the vet.
She hadn’t gone at all at home today before we went either. But it looks like she was somewhat dehydrated and that’s why they thought she wasn’t peeing.
:(

I don’t think she’s technically anemic but her HCT tends to run on the lower side (like low 30s) And it bounces around.
You can look on my labs tab on my spreadsheet, I fill in the values is there. (Haven’t done the ones yet from this week)

Poor baby. So sorry to see this for Ivy. I’m also one to go into vet when something may not be super serious but it’s off … I tell myself it’s better to assess sooner than later to possibly catch something earlier.

Hoping she is on the up and up today. :bighug:

Thank you, Laura. We appreciate your kind support. I hope you and Minner are doing well. We’ve been wondering how you are doing :bighug::bighug:

@Daphne and Aida I am thinking this could be thyroid/methimazole related. You are the most knowledgeable person I know on this subject who is here on the FDMB. I thought you might be able to help.
So sorry, I didn’t receive any message, was just passing by and saw this!
yes, since there doesn’t seem to be any other issues, methimazole could be the culprit…
What form do you give? The pill form can be nasty on the gi, if you can get the transdermal, it impacts it less. Unfortunately there’s no other option…radiation therapy, but am I remembering correctly that Ivy would not allow it?
Sorry if I can’t be of any help!
And so sorry for seeing this just now!

Hi Daphne, thanks for your reply.
Ivy gets transdermal methimazole.

You are correct, there would be issues with her getting I131 :(

Oh I’m so sorry then! No easy way for either of you…
Maybe you could add slippery elm bark to her food, it could help with the gi upset. Maybe also a regular dose of ondasetron could help with nausea?

Unfortunately there really isn’t any other way to get hyperthyroidism under control… either cure it or treat it…

It turned out it was pancreatitis. We treated her with Cerenia, buprenorphine, S. Boulardi with MOS.
I originally gave her ondansetron and it may have made her very sleepy, she didn’t want to eat….but that was before giving pain meds, which she apparently really needed.

She’s feeling much better now, 2 weeks later. It was a horrible week or so!!
I really hope she doesn’t have that again.
Thanks for your suggestions.
