Hi Everyone :)

6th cycle on 1.25U and it looks good.

Fistuk had a couple of bounces and I suspect he went low at night after the 3rd cycle.

I started testing and feeding when I'm home @+6.5 because I can just feel another lime coming and I'd like to prevent that and get through this week without lime parties if possible. His lowest point has been +7 and remains so.

I'm also quite convened that he went low or at least to the border yesterday nadir time but unfortunately none of my cat sitters could come. I asked my neighbour to come feed him at +5.5 to try and prevent a low but she don'e know how to test and I'm grateful she came at all. She's elderly and doesn't know much or anything about cats but she was happy to help.

I started giving him another round of the AB the vet prescribed in December to lower the inflammation cells bc of his teeth. I could see his yes building up pass and tears and two days ago his tears made me feel very uncomfortable.

Hopefully it'll give him another month of somehow balance until Beginning of April when we go to the surgery vet for tests and preparation for teeth extract surgery.

I'm not comfortable about his heart and have some concerns I'm not yet willing to voice. So for the time being - paws crossed.

Wishing you all a lovely, boring day:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Shelly, it's like you built a village of caring people around Fistuk, it warms my heart to imagine them.
I am sorry about all the worries you have with his health.
His numbers are looking great, he is very well regulated now!
I hope you have a good day :bighug:
It does take a village doesn't it. I'm blessed to have a few who are happy to support us because managing diabetes, as everyone here knows, is work.
He's nicely regulated indeed and I hope he doesn't dip into limes for the next week
I hope you're having a good day :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Shelly, I’m sorry all this is going on. His numbers look great. And it sounds like you’re in contact with the vet and have a good plan :bighug:
Hi Tim :)
We have a good vet, which was not easy to find. Nevertheless I always feel I need to be the one who makes the decisions an gather all the knowledge in order to make the best decisions.
It is indeed some comfort that his BG number as regulated.
Wishing you a great day :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Shelly, wishing you and Fistuk a very stable dark green night. I hope he remains free of those nasty limes!

It's wonderful you have found such good sitters to help you. And so good Fistuk is a sweet and friendly boy. It makes care for him so much easier!
I hope the AB helps to make him feel better. Sending lots of good wishes to you and your very sweet boys:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hmm, I wonder how many of us on the FDMB -- researching everything we can get our hands on, testing every few hours, protecting and worrying about our babies like the helicopter parents you read about -- are we a rare breed of control freaks, or what?? :p:joyful:
Fistuk is lucky to have you in his corner, Shelly. A more caring mama could not be found, as I am sure he would be the first to say. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci :)

MInd you, Fistuk is a sweet boy and easy to handle when he wants to. Well, unfortunately he's not so mobile so he's not biting or running away but he tells me very clearly when he doesn't like someone - and we've had a few occasions like that.

We're going away in a couple of weeks and I was looking for someone to stay here. One woman replied to my FB post and she has so many cat-house sitting recommendations to cover your walls. But when talking to her I kept on recvingin this message "Fistuk is NOT going to like her!" so I told her it's not going to work :)

AB is helping. he already has less tear eyes, more awake and energy. I just hope it lasts long enough until beg April when we have the pre op appointment.

Sending you lots of love :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you for your kind words, Karen
I def answer a helicopter mum definition :joyful:

But I mean, can you blame us? so many of us have been misguided and mistreated and eventually we're the one getting up in the middle of the night to test and feed and in my case I now need to carry Fistuk to the toilet and make sure he's not falling.... so the ultimate decision on every course of treatment is mine, and that's what most vets don't get.

I appreciate our vet first for knowing about the forum and recommending it to her clients and second for saying to me "as a vet I need to know about so many illnesses that I can't be an expert on each one. But you, are the expert in diabetes and in your cat" and she works WITH me. As long as Fistuk is with us I'm not moving house :joyful::bighug::bighug::bighug:

What a wonderful vet you have found, Shelly. I am so glad she respects your knowledge and treats you as a partner in Fistuk’s care. Chispa’s internist used to say, “This is not a dictatorship — I want to know what you think.” Vets like that are worth their weight in gold! ❤️
