Ugh, why so high, Logan? And not high in a good way!

Logan doesn't seem to be feeling well. He's not eating as much as he's been eating the last few days. Around 2:30 this morning, I managed to get him to eat 3/4 of a can of FF (71 cal) but it took some coaxing. This morning, I finally got him to eat 3/8 can of FF Roasted Turkey (new flavor - 27 cal) and 3/8 can of FF Chunky Turkey (the only flavor he's eaten lately - 35 cal) for a total of 62 calories. Not horrible, but not great. I'm hoping he'll perk up sometime today and maybe eat really well at lunch time when I go home.

Hope Logan will be hungry when you get home....at least he did eat something though...

I hope he does perk up today. Maybe he over did it a bit yesterday and his tummy isn't used to having eaten so much on his own.

I'm hoping he's just having an off day. As long as he hits the mid to upper 300s calorie-wise, we're still ok with the countdown to tube removal! I do worry that he'll stop eating again at some point after the tube is gone. I know we're going to have bad days with the IBD and that this will most likely be a lifetime struggle/battle...that totally sucks! I want my baby to be healthy again. I would be so happy if we only had diabetes to worry about.

You have to eat for Mommy. If ot you are going to keep wearing your little shirt
that you don't like anymore.
Maybe he is having an off day today. He did so well yesterday, maybe he is still
digesting.
Hope he comes around a bit more.

No sunshine today. :( Logan ate a little better, but it still took quite a bit of coaxing. He ended up eating 5/8 can of FF chunky turkey and 5/8 can of chunky chicken, for a total of about 116 calories. I think he's just having an off day - really hoping he'll snap out of it soon, though!

Back to where we started this morning. He's still not quite as enthusiastic about eating as I'd like, but he did manage to eat 7/8 can of chunky turkey FF - about 83 calories.

What about trying some new flavors? Shadoe is always acting like she loves a food and then when I get more of it, she is like, oh, I don't like that one anymore. What else you got?
Also, I test Shadoe by offering a tiny treat if i don't know whether she is being finicky or really not feeling that well.

How much food should Logan be eating? I had thought that appetite or at least consumption of foods lessens sometimes.

I don't know anything about IBD; is it possible the appetite decrease is related? I would think that eating on own again is not going to be straight uphill and there may the odd days when Logan just does not feel like eating much.

And it could be that Logan really was just having an off day!
I know quite often we are watching kitties so closely, killing them with kindness; I see Shadoe blink and I am like oh, what was that for? I wonder if it's bad?

:YMSIGH: Always with the ups and downs; let's hope that today was just a normal down day and tomorrow will be a pleasant up day.
 
I'm hoping it's just an off day and not a sign that the IBD is flaring up in spite of the prednisolone. I couldn't get him to eat a whole lot at his +2.5 snack. He acts like he wants to eat, but just doesn't feel up to it after a few bites. I've tried all sorts of brands/flavors. I thought he was going to like the Instinct Rabbit, but grew tired of it after about 1/8 of a can. He's supposed to get 340 calories - that was at his pre-surgery weight. He needs to gain a little bit so we've been aiming for 360-400 each day.

I'll see how he eats at his late night snack...
