Hello Everyone,
Jodi is doing an excellent job grabbing some data points, she invited a friend over to help her hold onto the cat while she does the test. Dillan dropped out at +16.5 but I guess this would just be the storage tent kicking in. As far as his attitude goes today she said that he has been overly frisky :twisted: jumping all over the place running up and down the halls, so it sounds like he is a happy kitty he just needed a brush with the 40s to realize it I guess lol :lol:

Hi Mike! I'm bumping this up for you so that maybe someone with experience can take a quick look at things for you since you didn't shoot this morning and you are taking a decrease tonight. I don't have any experience myself, but someone else may want to comment. :smile:

I wouldn't mind seeing another number before PMPS time, let's see,,,personal fav's are +9 or +11,,,could be really interesting... nailbite_smile

Well I didn't make it here in time for the -1 from the PMPS but I got a -0.5 from the PMPS. It looks like he is moving up a small amount but that should change with the dose tonight.

this is a +11.5 if there was insulin?

lemme count....wow....this is very good...what do u feel comfortable doing for PMPS? Ur around to monitor?

Yep I'll be here testing and since Dillan had his super low numbers last night we have reduced him to 0.25 so I will be injecting this tonight. What do you think?

This is an adjusted +11.5 because I'm changing his shooting time for I can monitor in the morning before I work

I'll shoot right before I give the insulin to see if its up or down but I imagine it is going up. I usually shoot his BG and then get his food ready and then shoot his insulin

Also I think I said it up above but I'll repeat anyways. I will be staying at the GF's tonight for I can test his AMPS and also up to a +1.75 before I go to work and by Dillan's data I think he does his biggest drops at this time.

Thanks everyone :-D So a 0.5 is the top of the plunger to the line, 0.25 is the middle of the plunger at the line and 0.1 is the bottom of the plunger. I think sometimes I was giving him a 0.4 if that exists lol I always wanted to have the plunger at least to the line and not before it

Yep he was fed when we shot, but we also take away half and give it to him after 2 or 3 hours

Its early here right now anyways because of Dillan's new shooting time woohoo.

Thanks Sienne, I was just looking at maximus's SS and I was wondering how you know when to drop the dose down to 0.1 and when to stop giving any.

i'm not sienne, but i can tell you what we like to see before dropping the dose...
we like to see numbers in the 50 - 100 range overall for about a week before dropping the dose.
the last few dose reductions are *generally* reductions from 0.5u to 0.25u and then to 0.1 unit.
however, there are exceptions to every rule... especially when you're dealing with cats! :mrgreen:

Yeah I know what you mean Dillan has definitely been an exception just tearing through the reductions. He has a 56 now, which I truly didn't expect, I thought it was going to go up a little bit. Should I give him a little LC?

you can give him a little lc or you can drizzle a little hc gravy on a teaspoon of lc. do the gravy if you're wiped out after last night.
i'd retest in 30 minutes...

I fed around a tablespoon of LC with a teaspoon of HC gravy his number is going up now so I would think that he should be surfing by now.

maybe leave food out for Dillan for overnite, he free feeds?

by the way, on ur ss, the AM numbers of 108 and 104 are actually blue, so u can change the cell colour if ever the program gives ya the wrong one.

Thanks for spotting that Ronnie, the SS is fixed. Dillan use to free feed and then we changed that once he was diagnosed with diabetes. We usually feed him scheduled times when we inject insulin and sometimes for little snacks every now and then

feed him before you got to bed and leave food out for him to nibble on during the night.

Yeah understandable (I did too thats why you got a +4 instead of a +3.5 lol) I will get another test to make sure it is going up and I'll give him a little bit more LC before I got to bed. He likes the wet food so much that he just eats it all right away so I don't think it will last long.

by the way, :lol: I say that a lot, some kitties can actually move away from scheduled feedings and learn to graze,
and a lot of people here use a timed feeder for overnite or when ur away.

do you have any ideas on how to teach them to graze, or possibly any recommendations for timed feeders?

this is the favourite around here, u can use wet food, adding a bit of water in each compartment to keep it fresh is good,I don't have it, but have heard many good things about it....if u have a Petsmart over in B.C, in-store is about $70 or so Canadian, I believe the prices in this link are in U.S $$

how to teach a cat to graze? I don't know, lol! It just sort of happened over a few months, I do however have to make sure the food is "fresh looking" by adding some water to it, or mine won't touch it, which may of helped them change their eating habits, so they graze overnite and when I'm out.
