so took him in-vet took blood, gave subq fluid-will ahve results tomorw. she thinks maybe ibd.
Buddy immediately felt better, came home and ate well.
vet said give pepsid ac twice daily for 5 days, is that true?i think i remember Jojo wrote otherwise, not sure. also, she couldn't take urine to test for crystals,i need to bring her a sample of it tomorow. is that necessary?surprisingly his bg was only 148 when we got home.
thanks , everyone for all the support .

amps so high due to eating tuna-will update SS after post.
WCR:Buddy is still not eating well, otherwise purring and playing.trying to entice his inatke with tuna , but still only eating 1/3 of normal.i'm afraid bg will go too low if on empty stomach, but how much tuna can he eat without it going too high?
WHR:still weak and coughing, had to cancel todays vet appt. will go tomorw if he still is not eating well.
thanks veryone for yesterdays well wishes and info on Cp -very very helpful. knowledge is power.

Re: 2/9 Buddys amps229+wcr

tuna won't increase him, feed it if he'll eat it Marci.. I hope you two feel better soon!

Edited to add: When a cat is not eating, diabetes management becomes priority #2. Priority #1 is get food in him. Doesn't matter WHAT it is. Whatever happens to his bg's can be fixed later. Not eating is a very dangerous thing for diabetics and can lead to fatty liver disease, so if you ultimately have to even resort to dry as a last ditch attempt, do it. Fix later. (try everything you can think of before going to dry, even HC)

Re: 2/9 Buddys amps229+wcr

Sorry you're not feeling well, Marci. Glad Buddy is eating some tuna. I wonder if it's because it's smelly. Have you tried warming baby food to make it smell stronger?

Come on, Buddy, you've got to eat.

hey marci can you post a health recap of what is going on with buddy in tomorrow's condo for me? i'm lost, what is going on? there is no notes on side of SS..he is having g/i problems? pepcid helps with stomach acid/nausea, has he been vomiting? is there diarrhea?
you should be nicely snowed in tomorrow so we can chat then.

Uh disregard the pee sample marci. Waste of time and money. If she wants a pee sample, she needs to do cystocentesis..via needle..and run C&S (culture and sensitivity) I don't understand where IBD is coming into play. Cat has classic symptoms of pancreatitis so I hope she tested for that too? And tuna shouldn't make his numbers go up unless you served it in a bread bowl :)

Marci, can you do a writeup of the whole history of the last few days for Jojo? Jojo, cat has been inappetant probably 3 days now. http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5506

Fluids can cause lower BG numbers, but I suspect the lower reading at the vet may have been due to less food during the day.

I hope you both feel better today.
