Sunny's BG is still riding a little high, but much better than yesterday's morning BG though. Not sure why...
Could his bg be affected for days from a high carb meal of dog food yesterday morning? It's kirkland dog food and according to grok it's 47% carbs! Also, the stress of this dog being here might be affecting him.
Continuing to monitor..... Dog going home Sunday.

Forty-seven percent, ack!! I remember reading (probably on a sticky somewhere on this site) that carbs from dry food stay in the system longer than wet food. But I'm not an expert ... hopefully one will come along and weigh in. I'm tagging @Wendy&Neko, and you might also want to add a "?" prefix to your post to speed things up.

Sunny is such a sneaky bandit. If there's a carb in the house, he'll find it and gobble it down. Just like his mama.

Yes, dry food high carbs can last in the system longer. But just one sneak attack shouldn't be as bad as a full time diet of high carb. I wouldn't panic quite yet.

I just glanced over the sticky Bhooma lucked yesterday as I’m not family with the new oral drugs for fd Do you have labs since 1/24?The sticky mentions the meds are not for cats with CKD and your signature mentions CKD stage 2. The labs on the stab indicate usg is low. Hopefully the dry food is the cause here of the BG rise and not that she’s out of remission.

I don't have any more recent labs in hand -- but he did have bloodwork in December, and it showed no advancement in his CKD. I don't know if it's really stage 2. They called it 'mild CKD'. I think I will forget the idea of using one of the new oral meds - it sounds too risky since he's been on insulin previously, and has CKD. I hate the idea of going back to the insulin - I'll have to relearn everything - since it's been so long. Hopefully we won't have to.
